What makes us human beings?
TWIP stands for This Week In Photography. It's a podcast all about photography. From cameras to techniques, tips and tricks, and even photo challenges.
A podcast is usually a talk show, but sometimes video, put out by normal everyday people. Think of NPR that anyone can do about anything. The great thing is that since it's put out by people and not greedy studios, you get thousands of different ones about all kinds of topics. Most are just audio of talking heads, but some do skits or preplanned things. Tikibar is a pretty popular one like this.
They are available to download from the internet, usually for free. I haven't seen one that charged, but there may be some like that. Most people get them from iTunes, since iTunes makes it very easy to subscribe to them and always have the latest one, but there's other options too if iTunes isn't your cup of tea.
I just finished listening to all the episodes they have, and I'm quite impressed with them. There was one episode that wasn't so great, episode 4 - PMA Interviews, but that was mostly because they didn't explain what was being talked about that well and they were at a convention. But most of the episodes are a bunch of people just talking about photography. The episodes range around 45 minutes or so, some longer and some shorter.
Anyone into photography should like them. They aren't too technical, but they do talk about the necessities, like F-stop, focal range, shutter speed, ISO and all of that. And no, I haven't heard the dreaded 'Digital VS. Analog' debate so far, so don't worry
I'm very excited about it, and I can't wait for more episodes to come out.
It's really easy if you have iTunes. Just click on the iTunes Store option, and type 'This Week In Photography' into the search bar. From there you will see it listed under podcasts. It's currently number 12 in the Todays Top Podcasts area too.
If you don't use iTunes, you can go to the link I linked to at the top and listen to the show online. There's a few other methods of subscribing they offer on the site too.
They use Flickr to get people to join their photography challenges, and I just wish they would use deviantART. Or at least mention deviantART for the tons of great photography that you guys up here. But hey, you can't have it all
You guys should also check out the other two TWI- podcasts, This Week In Tech, and This Week In Media. I've been a long time subscriber to both, and just love their stuff. And check out some other podcasts while you're at it
