Keep up-to-date with the happenings of the deviantART forums with the new installments of `conorschild's Forum Newsletter, now by =bohobella, ~mangachu and ~ImmortalEcstasyDream. In this issue, we explore a variety of topics including lesbians, British trolls and mudkips.
Many of you have probably heard about this 'website', but even if you haven't, please read this article for future reference on Encyclopedia Dramatica.
Hello, I am Nova, right? Well, If you want to sign up as a character, comment on my frontpage, and describe the character for me. Either me or you can draw it, but I just want some ideas.
~jonnywedge has left deviantART a long time ago, but he left his gallery intact, still featuring masterpieces such as Liquid Stigmata for us to gaze at.
Valek and Yelena by *xiaocaca wasn't the piece originally suggested, but all of the pieces in this gallery were so strong visually that many of them would have been a good choice. This one was chosen because the passion between the two characters is so clear through the artistic ability of *xiaocaca, and it is an overall strong drawing that deserves a second glance!
~ZODC is an overlooked, but talented artist. The suggestor says "Like anyone else in this world, you've always wanted to escape this world when things would go wrong. You'd want to go to a fairy tale land where everything was both joyful and peaceful. ZODC illustrates that same thought so beautifully, it's like you really are going to Enter The Story".
Freta 4400 by ~warsawphotogroup is a beautiful portrait highlighted by rich tones. Be sure to check out the rest of this deviants gallery for a collection of outstanding work.
Hyperion by *xyypnoth is almost like a puppet, however, this abstract masterpiece can be interpreted in so many ways that you'll see something new and different every time you glance at your desktop
Nice use of silhouettes. I really like how they seem to emerge from within the smoke, almost gives the shot a sense of riot which contradicts really nicely to the reality of children just playing in the street. place by ~grgbpm
I just so happened to have run across Serenade by `sya and was simply... stopped in my tracks. It is absolutely amazing in design, composition, perspective, gradient and even framework! ~ This is the definition of ...An Oldie, but a Goodie! Feast your eyes... this is true fractal creativity!
In The Womb by ~JUA screams in torment, enduring eternal pain. Its wicked, twisted, dark, haunts from darkness ready to grab the viewer in its own twisted universe. ~JUA displays incredible skill, attention to detail, has ability to captivate the viewer, present the vision, as well as tell the story and get us all involved. Please visit rest of his amazing gallery, i am sure it will capture your imagination as well.
"Solitude is the profoundest fact of the human condition. Man is the only being who knows he is alone." I felt this quote would be befitting with the imagery of Ex luce mutatio by =Atra-Virago
Browsing through old artistic nudes I came across this interesting piece. Strangely, I had never seen it before and thought it would make a nice feature for those that like a more unconventional nude. The whole scene is just strange and I love that. The funky perspective and depth of field really amplify the odd. nick by ~FatalMichael
love love love by ~narabia... and nothing but love on Valentine's Day. Wonderful idea and nicely done picture. Thanks for sharing and Happy Valentine's Day !
Stand A Little From Your Hand by ~troyek is a testament to techniques in earlier photography that sought to imitate the techniques of impressionist paintings by various in-camera manipulations or printing processes. More to the point, THIS photograph has a soft, painterly feel that really displays the artistry of the photographer as well as shows another part of the spectrum of abstract photography. There's more out there other than super-macro and minimalist graphic imagery (though both of those are still just as awesome as this )
Horsefaced Gangster by *smithmada has not only the incredible textures that set the mood, but also the malformations of the structure of the face, and limited use of colour, make this painting a stunning piece.
"If David Lynch and Helmut Newton got together over a glass or two of Absinthe, this would undoubtedly be the result. The lush colours infused with glowing light leads you to wonder if this dream is about to turn into a nightmare, and if you should turn and run or stay and watch. It's Alice down the rabbit hole, and she's just getting started." - =DalaiHarma She Knows by ~sgthotlips
Suffocation by =takitus is "one perfect definition of suffocation. Great capture with amazing composition." It takes something familiar, corporate architecture, and abstracts it in a dizzying way, almost transmitting the vertigo through the still image to the viewer in his or her computer chair.
In Magda_03 by ~hellwoman a lot of important things play together when it comes to fashion photoraphy: Set up, charismatic model, great make up and great light design.
Almost alive on the Drive by ~BenoitAubry Street photography isn't always about being stealthy.. I like the fact that even tho he had permission (from the mother), it isn't posed, and one of his subject doesn't even know he was there..
without vitamin by ~ElenaOprea is quirky and offbeat, and its use of the bell pepper seems to reference the old classics like Edward Weston. I love the continuity of color tons with the orange-red lips and the red-orange pepper.
Beer by ~GruberJan "The amazing realism and clarity of this piece is just perfect. I love the action the artist creates. This piece can easily be imagined as a print ad."
Find Of The Day by ~Ahnluhn Comment by ~AmbitiouslyVicious "I can't help but smile every time I see this image. The expression is just priceless, the colors makes it look like a painting, and I always catch myself thinking that the background is a jungle when really the bushbaby is in urban surroundings. An urban jungle perhaps?"
Nexus by *lucid-dion displays awesome movement, light and depth which is usually very difficult to achieve in abstract work. It displays the connection between mind and body, between spiritual and physical. It draws us out of the darkness, and shows that there is the light on the end.
It looks like the little guy in frog stock 50 by ~hatestock is about to take a swim. The high resolution download for this stock photograph provides a great close up view that both traditional and digital artists will appreciate. Like it, love it, lick it, kiss it! Surely it's a prince.
