Birds with window dressing. There's nothing more beautiful or thrilling than a fancy crest, long tail feathers, frills, spikes, wattles, bright colors, iridescence ... and believe it or not, I'm really not referring to chickens. In honor of birds with window dressing (and the great fun gained from drawing such creatures) I'm holding a contest.

The deadline for this contest is April 12, 2008. There are two categories, with one entry per person per category. Traditional and digital art of the 2-D and 3-D worlds are accepted, but please no photos or photo manipulations. It must be an original piece created after March 1st to qualify. Please note your entries.

The first category deals with birds of all shapes and sizes, real or imagined. Dress it up, deck it out, or show me what nature has created.


Myths in Paradise

We've seen what birds look like all dressed up in the spiffiest feather arrangements, but now its time to look at another side of the coin. Give me your fanciest dragon, gryphon, winged anything with all the frills attached.

Courtship displays, sexual dimorphism, defensive coloring - show me your best!
