Hello to all!
This article is an interview/ feature with our first place winner ,from

's contest!
Name: Donna AKA

Age: Im 21.
Where are you from?
I grew up in Rota, Spain and my family moved to the United States when I was 9. We traveled extensively for 5 years; living in hotels, camping in the woods, and we even lived on a beach for awhile. It was quite an interesting experience to say the least. We finally settled in Virginia, and that is where I currently live.
If people were to describe you in three words, what would that be?
I dont know Yes, that is my super copout answer!

How long have you been an artist?
I'll put it this way, I dont ever remember a time when I wasnt drawing. Ever since I could hold a pencil I've been obsessed with drawing. Its something I have to do and Im absolutely miserable if I dont!
What is your art style?
Im never quite sure whether I should put my artwork into the surreal or psychedelic section of dA
I suppose its a happy medium between the two.
What causes the interest in you for this art style?
This style of art gives me a sense of freedom. It allows me to create unimaginable situations and symbolize thoughts that go through my mind.
What other styles of art do you like?
I enjoy all styles of art, ranging from non-objective to realism. I have always had an interest in automatism and Outsider Art. I love art that comes from passion rather than training. Those artists who feel a compulsion to create, crafting their art with whatever they have.
Who are your favorite artist/ artists on DA and beyond?
Hmmm.. Would you like an entire list?! Look through my dA favorites!

Alex Grey, Giger, Henry Darger, and Van gogh are among my favorites.
What is your very favorite picture from your gallery?
The next one... Im never satisfied with my work. I learn something new each time I complete a drawing. I would gladly redo each drawing in my gallery and apply what Ive learned. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be my most recent:

What inspires you and why?
Inspiration for me can come from innumerable sources. I'm inspired by anxious energy and mood swings. If Im feeling moody, its definitely a good time to draw. Im also inspired by dreams, nature, and music. Sometimes when I listen to music, I visualize colors and patterns that I later put into a drawing. Looking at art in general triggers my crave for drawing. The many artists in my deviantArt favorites have been a great source of inspiration.
Do you have any special plans or hopes for the future, in art and beyond?
My future plans are to continue to create more work and to see who I am becoming as an artist. Im currently working on improving my airbrushing technique and hope to someday start an airbrushing/pin striping business. I love to airbrush onto motorcycles, cars, helmets, guitars, and just about anything you can imagine.
