Acute Wiiitis

`skifi:iconskifi: reports, March 14, 2008
...A healthy 29 y.o. spanish medical resident awoke one Sunday morning with intense pain in the right shoulder. He did not recall any recent injuries or trauma and had not participated in any sports or physical exercise recently. He consulted a rheumatology colleague. The Patte's test was positive, consistent with acute tendonitis isolated to the right infraspinatus.

After further review of his activities during the previous 24 hours, the patient recalled that he had bought a new Nintendo Wii video-game system and had spent several hours playing the tennis video game. Was that the cause of the pain? Click on the link to keep reading.... :giggle:

well, you know, this is rather to be expected. The simulated movements, especially fast ones, can be pretty hard on muscles and joints, especially when an intended load (i.e., a tennis ball) is not present. I realize things get competitive, but, damn guys, take it down a notch. Pace yourself. You're EXERCISING.

On another note, I'll bet vigorous Wii players get pretty fit...

I wouldn't be surpised if it was the way. Man I was playing the baseball game on wii sports and I swing so hard trying to hit that accursed ball! After a while my arm was like way sore! I also here you should switch arms every once in a while. Cause you'd just be exercising one arm leaving the other to get limp.

Yeah, my father knows that guy, it was his student some time ago. I play Guitar Hero too and my Wii and I haven't got tendinitis or some sort of rheumatic disease ^^ it's like cell phones cause cancer, an utterly lie!

Hmmm...Sounds like that medical student may want to also take a look at the condition known as "The Claw". First discovered by Chandler Bing during a Ms. Pac-Man marathon, a recent outbreak was discovered when a 23 year-old college graduate student received extreme hand cramps & physical deformation after a lengthy period of playing Guitar Hero III. =P

Ah. Who knew strumming a guitar and fingering frets could get so tiresome? Well, besides me. But that was only for a weekend. I don't happen to be so lucky as to have a vigorous strumming-fingering-frets routine as others... D: ;-; Ah well.... X3
