National Craft Month (USA)
The National Craft Month promotion in March is a time when retail craft stores around the country hold special activities, events, workshops and demonstrations to familiarize consumers to the many joys and benefits of crafting.

"
Crafting is booming and continues to gain in popularity. Why? Because it's an enjoyable activity that provides lots of benefits. It's easy; it helps reduce stress; it builds children's self-esteem and learning skills; it's emotionally pleasing; and most importantly it's fun!
The Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) has dedicated the entire month of March to celebrating all that crafting has to offer. "Crafting is a great way for families to get together, be creative and have a good time," Call your local craft store or visit

CHA is a not-for-profit organization consisting of more than 6,000 member companies engaged in the manufacture, distribution and retail sales of products in the $30 billion craft and hobby industry."[source] :

It's never too late to learn a craft.
Devious Comments
We'd go to the lake and find drift wood, and use it in the crafts we did as well. We'd put together trees, bird's nests, flowers...we'd create oragami bowls of fruit..despite our best efforts, they always turned out square. We'd still end up with interesting things to decorate with.
We'd sew our own stuffed animals, crochet our own blankets, knit our own scarves..we made just about everything.
I attribute all the crafting and art I did when I was a kid to my intellegence now. If it weren't for all the things I did to stimulate my mind when it was still developing, I probably would have been rotting it in front of a T.V.
To this day, I can't sit still to watch T.V. for more than an hour before I jump up to go do something.
I ♥ crafts. They're so fun.
