Okay...
...that's weird.
DeviantART the world's best artist community has nothing on "GAG", Graphic Artists Guild
[link] ? I've searched for GAG articles in the News Section and submitted Deviantion in the hope of finding someone hinting or talking about GAG, but nothing has showed up.
Wait. Before I go on, I'll check the Forums...
HAY~! There are four posts on Graphic Artists Guild!(The newest post about the Graphic Artists Guild being that on Dec 6, 2004.)
[link]That doesn't seem right... From what I've read out of the GAG:Handbook that GAG has been around sense 1967. Why? WHY? Why has GAG been ignored by dA!!?!
Has something gone wrong? Did GAG have one too many cocktails and parked on dA's lawn? Why? Why hasn't the Graphic Artists Guild been mentioned in over 4 years? And if it has, please point out to me.
The thing I want to stress to those who don't know about GAG and the GAG:handbook is that they are both vital sources on how you can conduct business and legal matters with your artwork. Even if you don't plan on being a Guild member or your just a hobby artist the GAG:Handbook seems to be the perfect model and resource on figuring out prices, rights, and contracts of not just traditional artwork but digital and fabric designs when dealing with commissions and customers.
The GAG:Handbook itself is dictionary thick and in almost legal paper size... legal size paper size..? Legal paper size pape-Anyways the book is 7inchs wide by 12inchs long and a inch thick. I cried when I had to fork over $35 bucks to buy the book but I don't regret it after reading just of the Handbook.
Dear Buddha, this book is so awesome. It has answered so many questions about how I could sell some of my ideas for greeting cards. OR. Or what I would charge if I was contacted to do some more website designs! EVEN the pricing on doing art for postage stamps. POSTAGE STAMPS!
I do believe this will be the third book without pictures or illustrations that I will tolerate to read, therefor, I recommend the
Graphic Artists Guild Handbook: Pricing and Ethical Guidelines for the whole community. I don't even care if you don't understand english, if you produce art you must have this book. And for those who don't understand english, how are you reading this news post?
