`SparrowSong on writing, critique and her passions

^lovetodeviate:iconlovetodeviate: reports, September 28
An interview with writer, critic (critiquer?), lit senior, `SparrowSong. Here are some tidbits:

“I like that my passions change. If nothing else, it gives me more to write about.”

“Everyone has heard the expression, ‘Give a man a fish, he eats for a day; teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.’ If you don’t learn to critique, you will always be dependent on others to help you instead of being able to do it by yourself.”

“Art changes how we view the surface of the world to reveal truth or beauty—or both—underneath.”

Angsty Literature Club

*Matadi:iconMatadi: reports, October 3
Since there is not much we are afraid of in the days of speeding optic cables, no need to talk sincerely since we do wear the egoist, shiny mantle of a digital avatar, why there is still "love" the most search after word on dA? We do have the need to touch and be touched,to smile, not often even cry, we are thirsty of eachothers footsteps in the sacred place called emotion.Living to tell we are so fragile, living to tell we are so strong, living to tell...

Take a rest, from time to time, step back and look around you,
catch what you see in a word.
what will it be?

Great Novelists on deviantArt - Vol. 2

*SpideyGeek:iconSpideyGeek: reports, March 19
In my last news article, I highlighted five of my favorite novelists who call deviantArt their home. Now, I'm back with five more for you to take a peek at, read a little bit from, and offer warm comments and constructive criticisms to. (If the author calls for it, that is. More on that later.)

Here are five more writers I keep an eye on myself. Know of another novelist that deserves the limelight? Then note me with their name or comment down below and I'll take a look. It doesn't have to be fantasy lit. I just happen to be more familiar with that world at the moment. ;)

*twilight-apple
When I was picking five writers from my last batch, it was painful to save her for this volume, because her story Into the Moonlight is such a cute, delightful tale. The on-going story of vampire Erin and werewolf Simon, if you're a fan of Stephanie Meyer then you'll definitely appreciate this winsome tale.

~sarraphine
The darker side of vampires, which is the realm I normally inhabit myself. I often think of Exquisite Monster as a story that would feel right at home somewhere near "Blade" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and have not gotten a chance to spend near enough time in its world. Don't you be remiss, too! Take a look:

*DgenRetEliteRabbit
I love her story Heart Attacks. Simply put. It's an engaging story of fate and romance in the vampire world, with a gutsy female protagonist and the three male vampires whose world she becomes immersed in. Reiney has moxie, Christian and Scott make me smile, and Jackson is that endearing sort of guy you wish really did exist. Urban fantasy never tasted so good.

`Mithgariel
While she has several engaging stories full of mystical, mythological, and - at times - wounded characters, I'm the most enraptured with Minstrel's Song. The first chapter reads like a fairy tale lullaby of indentity and desperate urgency and carries onward from there into a very poetic, mystical tale. I fell in love with Molock right away. See if you don't as well.

~xfoxfirex
I love Reggie, because while some people are haunted by the idea of their past, Reggie literally deals with the ghosts of the great beyond in A Hoodlum's Story. A skilled gunman from a regional gang, Reggie gets more than he bargained for when he falls between the cracks of a gang war, corruption, and a girl who knows too much. I think you'll enjoy it as much as I have.

And as an added bonus, I think that any writer who sticks their neck out asking for criticism is worth a pat on the back. Face it, our stories are like children and discipling our unruly fiction often hurts just as badly as disciplining our own flesh and blood. But it's one of those necessary evils in order to become better at our craft and we swallow the bitter pill just the same.

*ArjetLuna is looking for advice on her tale The Wanderer so pay it forward and help a fellow aspiring novelist ensure she's headed in the right direction. Here's the link to follow: [link]

And here's a helpful guide on how to critique by ^lovetodeviate that has proven to be useful for me as well:

That's all for now. Until next time, read some lit and write, write, write!

Firstly - I think this is in my top 3 favourite articles. I mean - free recommendations on lit. Like really. Too damn awesome. Especially since I trust Spidey with my life (or unlife).

Secondly - I am honoured to be featured, thank you, dear. :)

The greatest thing about these articles of reccomendation is that our little circle ISN'T completely hole-free. The only names I recognize here are twilight and Mithgariel! So yay! More stories to immerse myself in!
