"shell's Kids as Disney Characters Contest"

We are revamping the T.E.A.C.H. website! The HBO special has just been nominated for the GLAAD award in NY! We are honored to be part of helping this organization.

1 in 8 is looking for some incredible artists

CEO of 1in8 ~speedster says "It would be based loosely in this Atlas in so much as the woman in the logo would be kneeling like this but instead of holding the hourglass over her head, but (she would be completely naked,) with one hand lightly touching the nipple of one breast and the other hand embracing the top globe of the hourglass. The women needs to have the feel of these attachments and the final piece needs to have the metal feel of this first image."

Needs to be simple yet intricate (yeah figure that out!) Remembering that logos need to be printable, mass produced and catchy to the eye. Wish I designed the Nike Swoosh, or the NBA logo!

More about this contest soon. I will be doing a huge hooplah on it once I nail down the prizes and incentives. So, get your drawing boards out and start coming up with ideas.

What is this about Disneyland??

If you read my portfolio or know anything about me, you will know that my husband and I adopted 6 children a few years back. After a serious health crisis, my health started to get much better and although I couldn't go back to the kind of work I used to do, we had a lot of free space, love and time to give. We chose to provide emergency shelter for children which ended up quickly becoming adoptions lol. We adopted 2 sibling groups of 3. We couldn't imagine anyone breaking these families up!! One of these days I will have to tell you a little about the background of these children, it is enough to curl your hair.

One of these boys graduated High School 2years ago and went off to the University! He came to us off the streets. He had it rougher than I can ever put in words. He pulled himself up and out of the muck and mire and today he is a remarkable young man, loving, caring and giving. He is Ruben.

Two more of the boys are graduating this year! Both were branded uneducateable in many ways. They have since kicked some hairy butt! Both being honor roll students and very active in sports. One got in some trouble this year and put us through a bit of a scare with some repressed anger, but he came through it like a champ and is scheduled to graduate! These were straight F kids who went through pure hell. They turned their whole lives around and a mom could never be as proud of anyone as much as I am of them!

Disneyland you ask? Hehe I am sure you have guessed by now. I will be gone next week because we are taking the whole clan to Disneyland!! I am so excited. We took the older boys when they first came to us, but the little guys have never been. We travel a lot, taking them to the Grand Canyon, Canada, Yosemite and the like. Of course we are members of the SF Zoo, Aquariums, Zeum and Academy of Sciences (cheaper to be members than to buy tickets for 8 haha)

But here we are talking about DISNEYLAND!!! Nothing like it! I can't wait to see their faces all lit up.

I would like to commemorate this trip.
In the past I have commissioned some excellent images of my children from great artists here on dA.

I would like to make a contest with a one year subscription to dA and $100 prize to the one who wins the "shell's kids as Disney characters."

I can tell you that Ruben loves Goofy, and Irie is a definite princess.. Zaya is soooo into Dragons... There are 7 children total. I will make a news article about this and include more details! There are pictures of all of the children in my gallery.
