I have notice a new type of art work here on the DA. I call it "serial art" because it just looks the same, the concept is the same and the stock that is used is the same. I know half of the DA comunity will hate me for this article but i have to draw awareness on this situation. What causes this "serial art" or clishees? Well practicly other members in the comunity. They are not to blame for this. They just express their vision and if their vision is well recieved by other artists the number of people sharring this vision will grow instantly.Unfortunetly that is just the way a comunity works. The most popular artist are trend setters and the least experienced once are trend followers. I guess thats why these DA members are popular. They can break away from the "daily fashion" and impliment another vision, a totally different one from the others. "Serial art" is also incoraged by tutorials. Many artist submit tutorials on their works and not general skills ,which eventually leads to copycat art. Can we stop this? I honestly don't know. I guess it is up to the will of each individual to decided if he wants to be a trend setter or not. What i can say is that we should be careful what we post when it comes to tutorials and other such guidelines.
DA's biggest clishes of the moment:
The gothis skirt I am sure everybody knows what skirt i'm talking about. A while back =Falln-Stock posted a series of dress stock. Well , the skirt of that dress is now the mark of gothic or dark art. I don't know who started the trend because it was already rolling when i came to the DA
and here is what came out in time: Now lets stop and look at these images. They are beautiful. But can you really apreciate them after seing that skirt so many times?
The room Everybbody has seen at least one deviation with a room in it. But it isn't any room ...it is a room made out of a single picture. Not sure when but i know that this trend was started by =Lady-Dementia. She also posted a tutorial on how these images are made and before you knew it over night everybody was doing "room art"
The microshot flower
These are just samples of the many type of serial art i have found on DA. No idea what should be done except make people aware of the situation. I appologise to those whoes art i have used to prouve my point.
In defence of flowers, they are really very beautiful close up, which isn't really anyobodies fault, but I can see your point with the rest...I think it depends a lot on the individuals use of an image or concept...you use the term 'room art', it could cover an incredibly broad range of ideas even within one room...much like 'artistic nude'...theres good, bad and mediocre in everything....theres also a lot of copying, but then, copying has been used in the artworld since time imemorial because it helps people to understand underlying process and therefore to become better at what they themselves do.
I do agree there are great things you can do with a room in art but i am trying to point out a certain type of room just like i am trying to point out a certain similarity in all of the works i have featured..... it is very unfortunet

so what exactly is the problem of using one and the same atmosphere for expressing different views concepts and ideas????
and in case u are concerned abt the issue of serial art let me tell u we make what we think is beautiful and the fact that some maybe the same is because we are humans and some of our ideas coincide..
and i also think that the art that you featured is extremely beuatiful..
i think that u could write abt some other problems like, bad quality pictures, or manupilations , or abt copyright problem or plagiarising i dont think what u wrote is actually a problem.
Maybe i do think it's a problem. I have nothing agains your art personally , i actually like it. In school they told us that there is no way we could come out with a unique idea and that everything we do has a foundation in something else. I come on deviant and see just that. It makes me terribly sad and i am sure i am not the only one who has noticed but the only one who ever decided to speak up about it. I don't care if i have to battle the entire art comunity to make my point. I'm sorry i couldn't write an article praising the wonderful skills of this art comunity because i don't make compliments where they are not needed. I say what i see even if people don't agree with it.

If you want to make a point, then you should be honest. Show the progression of my water drops macros, from the start to finish, and you can see my progress. How can I get opinions without posting them for people to see?
Serial Art my eye! Nice catch phrase, but it's meaningless.
Should no one take a photo of a Rose because it's been done so many times before? Should no one paint the bowl of fruit?
it might be that a part of gothic fashion is that skirt...which is true...but it almost looks like the SAME skirt....like they used that as stock or something ...the rest....yeah, well, the room from that angle is a tryptic effect with three sides which originated a really long time ago in churches, lol....but...again...looks like almost the same room....or they took the same concept.
As far as the flower goes...well...damn, a lot of photography is the same...there's a whole lot that has to deal with flowers and beads of water.
so, basically, it's not just DA...there's just a LOT of cliche stuff around. It's very difficult not to do something that seems cliche (I like putting wings on people, lol, for example...I just really love wings).
The best thing to do now would be to take these cliche things and do something new with them. Take it to the next level! Or try your darndest to come up with something completely new! ...
Although a majority of people just want things to look good, and aren't concerned with things being cliche or overdone. I think in some ways, they should do whatever they want, but I think every artist should try to be different from the next in some way, shape, or form.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

Hey, if you wanted to post an example, why not this [link] one? If it too unique to fit your theorem?
