I made this news article for a few different reasons. One reason was because I wanted to give some great long exposure pictures some attention they deserved. Then when I was putting together the pictures I realized that many people do not know or understand what long exposure pictures are. So I figured I would tell a little bit about them here as I display the pictures. Now there are many FANTASTIC long exposure pictures out there on deviantArt, but I decided to pick pictures that had a maximum of 100-150 page views and a max of about 30 favs but also looked good enough to deserve more attention than they've currently recieved. So here is a short explanation of Long exposures and some pictures.

Long exposures are photographs where the film is exposed for long periods of time. There is no set time for when a picture becomes a long exposure, at least not to my knowledge, but the pictures are normally at least 1 second long and get much longer than that. Many are 30 seconds long because that is normally the longest setting a camera will give you other than a bulb setting, which means as long as you are holding the button down, the shutter will stay open. The shutter is what lets the light into the camera. The pictures look the way they do because the film or digital sensor records ever movement of whatever the subject of the picture is so objects seem to flow. It is easiest to take these pictures when it is dark because if it is too bright too much light will come into the camera and cause an over exposed or mainly white photograph.
