Inspired by a series of "Community Choice" articles and the
Artist Relations Mantra - "Bringing Unity to the Community", many of the Gallery Directors have decided to reach out to the community and ask them to help choose artworks to be featured.
...but theres a catch! You've got to give me a small write up on the work you note me with. Basically, you choose 1 or more
(no more than 5) digital works, write me a note, tell me why you like each one, and thats it! When I get a good amount for an article I will write it all up! Just be sure to put "Community Choice" or something similar in the subject of the note.
For the first article I asked the `Senior member community to choose some works, but in the future I will take suggestions from anyone.
...and now for the artworks!
Artworks chosen by `hokuto:
"A beautiful and varied gallery, this piece in particular shows off a clean, elegant style and sense of design."
"Richly painted and detailed in the right places, without being overworked."
"A simple but elegant scene with beautiful composition."
"Sweet and imaginative, with lovely smooth shading and an adorable story to go along with it."Artworks chosen by `junoknight:
"I absolutely love this artist. She has incredible talent, and great taste, but there's one problem: Nobody knows about her! This deviation in particular is (in my opinion) the best one of her entire gallery. Her style is friendly, comic book, almost digital-copic-marker like. Excellent anatomy, clear eyes, and flowing hair. I make it a point to show that you can discern n00bs from good artists by the hair... in GOOD art, the hair always flows like liquid. It's shaded and highlighted very well, and the candy cane is a very sexy final touch, the icing on the cake."
"A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. I had just seen Across the Universe a few days before I saw this deviation and I recognized it immediately, which is a great sign. I recognized the face of my favorite character, and decided o see it up close. I was blown away at the detail! The detail in hair, the perfect eyes, the great anatomy, it's almost photo-like! The lighting is great, the reflection in his eyes is spot-on, and the artist captured the leaning action very well. Definitely worth a good looking at!"
"Let me just start with the word: "WOW."
This artist never ceases to blow my socks off, but this one in particular is among my all time favourite deviations on all of dA! Just take a look at the coffee table... it's almost photograph like! And this whole thing is a render! He assembled the couches, lights, walls, and tables, and they all look so realistic I have trouble believing they're not! Everything, from the gentle skylight, to the patterns in the lampshades, to even the smallest things like the reflection of the chair's shadow in the woodgrain wall. Everything screams realistic! TOTALLY worth three or four glances, if it doesn't take you more!"Artworks chosen by `vaia:
"This is just one example of an artist who I have long admired for the beauty in her work. The dark beauty and delicate lighting of this one has always seemed so very magical to me. One usually doesn't see darker creatures admiring the bright, but the little background story that Sarah has added here brings a smile to my face every time I read it."
"I'm a sucker for waterfalls. The rocks in this piece may not be incredibly detailed, but I truly don't think they needed to be to make this painting beautiful. I love the textures of the moss and grass, and the flow of the water is absolutely wonderful."
"I stumbled on this images a few years ago and it became an instant favorite. I love the angle, the subtle colors and even subtler texturing makes this one of my top picks to date."
"I really don't know that I can properly put into words just how I feel about this particular piece. There is something wonderfully magical and dream-like about it that makes one want to look at if for a long time; to follow the birds as they fly into the clouds, or watch the path of the lotus flowers as they swirl along. I just get lost in this image."
"I was drawn to this because it's purple...I'll admit it. But I love the dark, stormy feel of it as the clouds loom around the central streak breaking through the darkness. Most would probably not consider this one of the artist's best works, but I certainly find it to be one of the most powerful ones in her gallery."I will be taking notes for digital art ONLY, and for only the following galleries: Digital Paintings & Airbrushing, Digital Drawing, Digital Mixed Media, Digital Miscellaneous, and Digital Art Photomanipulations, please keep this in mind when noting me with your thumbs and write ups! 3D/Vector/Vexel will be handled by the appropriate Gallery Directors! Yes I know I featured 1 3D work here, but from here on out, only from the above galleries
