It has come to my attention that many may not know what AR (Artist
Relations) means, what it is for, and who is part of the AR team. Yes!
AR is a team of people that dedicate themselves, voluntarily, to bring
Unity to our deviantART Community! And this is our Mantra!!!

Who are you?

Now we move onto a more explanatory article about the AR Team:

As we can read in the faq ( FAQ #117: What is deviantART? ), in its purest form, deviantART is a means for expressing yourself in a variety of ways. and "the purpose of Artist Relations is to strengthen the community spirit as well as network with fellow artists so that we may bring outside opportunities to you, and help you to hone your skills. The Gallery Directors are the first people you should go to regarding your galleries. They are the people you need to make gallery suggestions to, and ask questions about your specific genre, or seek knowledge from. They also act as your lifeline to the administration. They are here to support and listen, and I can tell you we've got incredibly talented, devoted and passionate people on this team, so get to know them!" - $Moonbeam13

This is the most known definition of what is AR, included in every introduction of the AR's newsletter updates. And to sum it up, AR is a Team that brings Unity to the Community! You can find links to the AR Team folks in this: FAQ #18: Who selects the Daily Deviation and how is it chosen?

We are constantly in search for new ideas and new ways to get in touch with dA. You know, dA is YOU! Without you dA would just be a group of staff!

And this is why dA created the AR Team - your lifeline to the staff; a group of people for each gallery, for you to praise and complain to, if needed, for you to have fun with but above all, to communicate and share love for the Art!


Besides the AR Team itself, we must not forget the two lovely ladies who direct us and nurture us when needed: $Moonbeam13 (our fierce leader) and $FallenRox (who's like our auntie and gives us candy)! We love them so much!!!

How do we bring Unity to Community?

We select Deviations ( FAQ #61: What is a Daily Deviation? ), with the intent to give an artist a chance to be seen by a large portion of the community ( FAQ #873: What do I do when I disapprove of a Daily Deviation feature? ).
This is probably the fastest and most seen way of deviants to notice our doings, however, it represents only a small bit of what we really do!

We post News Articles from a wide-range of types: from featuring artists and deviations that otherwise wouldn't get noticed; interviews with artists that are seen as role-models by the community (whether by devious spirit and/or by deep specific know-how); community-newsletters, where we give the community a chance to see their tastes featured and where we give general juicy info that would be of deep interest to deviant artists and where we praise our love for dA; to articles about how-to's (how-to improve your skills, tech stuff, etc) having in between articles about happenings on dA and basically everything that you might want to get involved with, like clubs, projects and so on...

We post Journals that not only let you have some insight about our personality and life, it also lets you know about some specific news that aren't so often publicized in the News Articles - that being the case of the AR news updates, which are posted bi-weekly and that you can get in the comfort of your message centre if you devwatch the team and the team leaders. Another thing that may happen if you read AR Team's journal on a daily basis is the opportunity to be part of some of the most interesting projects we come-up with! Isn't that fun?

We also do a lot of polls, always asking for your opinion. We want to know what you think and what you want, so that we can represent your will!

By now you must have been figured out that AR is all about Community Outreach, so you can guess what comes next in my list!

Yes, if you thought chats (dAmn) and forums! We're onto it! And clubs too! And projects! And not only ours, your too, because without you we are nothing - without the community we are pointless!

So, straight to the point, AR is You, represented! If you have someone to ask for help with something related to community projects, DDs, News, etc., it's the AR Team! Why? Because AR brings UNITY to the Community!

But WAAAAIIIT!!!! I'm not over yet! We also deal with "miscats" - so if you have a moved deviation from one gallery to another it is very likely that it has been due to a miscategorization which we are compelled to deal with. If you had, instead, a deviation moved onto scraps it's probably our doings to, and it can happens in one of two reasons: a) it's a scrap or b) it's not within the correct gallery hence the scraps gallery being a last resort for us to place it, so you can move it to the more appropriate one. This will happen when your deviation can be place in more than one gallery (except, obviously, the one in which it was in the first place).

Plus, we also deal with the Report Desk (miscats only; for policy violations there is another team, so if you see porn anywhere we aren't really the go-to person): here your participation in reports is very much appreciated, because we are a volunteer part of the staff and we have our lives outside dA (however, it may seem a very odd and alien concept to grasp *giggles*).

We are a team of deviants just like you: we have dreams and fears; family&friends to give attention to - sometimes even a boy/girlfriend; hopes for a better browsing experience; lust for the fella plushie, etc... you get the picture! The only difference between us is a sign before the nickname - and with that sign comes a huge responsibility!

We pledged to serve the community - in fact, one of our motto's is "Community First!" and the Mantra that accompanies our breathing exercises at any second is AR brings Unity to the Community!
This is our purpose!
