PETA manipulate public sympathies for animals to fund an agenda that would see not only no animals being used for meat or dairy, but also no leather, no aquariums, no pets... in fact, they would rather animals be dead than be kept in "slavery" by humans. And so, they kill them.

That said, there isn't anything wrong with registering your cell phone if you really want to. If nothing else, it may prevent accidental calls from telemarketers who don't realize they're calling a cell phone.
