Although here on DeviantArt a lot of time is spent on the original characters of others, in fanart, very little is seen of the original characters of others, at least for the passing browsers. It's understandable, people look at what they like, and if they don't know of the characters, how can they ever find them and then like them?
It might be unfair, but it's how things work.

But because it's sometimes so unfair, because people put love and thought into their 'OC's, I thought why not make an article for them?
Find OCs was easier than I thought, I just needed to ask around in the thumbshare forum, which turned out to be quite a fun experience. I could sadly only picked out 15 for the many that entered, but this is just a taste of a few OCs hanging around on DA, and to get others looking around more.

Okay, but I'm boring you, so let's get this started.

I'm going to begin with one of my favorite OCs here on DA who is also by a good friend of mine:

Meet ~Fox88's Emma, from his comic Skull'd:

Skull'd takes place after/during a war brakes out in central Europe, and follows a boy named Takko who loses everything. He likely wouldn't survive if it wasn't for two girls, Emma and Ingrid... But soon he notices that there's something strange to Emma...
In short, she's 19 years old and has awesome hair. He hasn't posted much plot wise, but I bet if you bug him enough he will.

Here are the fifteen OCs I gathered from the forum.
Each one has written their own description about the characters and put in their own thumbs. I advise you to look at a bit more of the characters, however, to get a better idea of them yourself.

Here we go:


's Crimson

Name: 'Crimson'
Species: Septorome/Necroceon... alien bug
Age: ... old. 3078
Birthplace: You expect him to remember that after three millenniums?
Size: 60 feet from head to toe
Powers: Neuropsychic atom/quark manipulation (which he uses as often as he takes a bath; once every year) - Could go on explaining how this 'ability' works for hours, but I understand this is not a chemistry lesson. XD
Overall personality: Moody, sulky, perverse, sarcastic, ignorant, selfish. (Madcap happy when drunk/stoned)


Crimson is an old, grumpy captain living onboard a talkin (equally cranky) aircraft carrier (ZFI Terraniisco). Just like the rest of his kind, he doesn't have any magic powers, elemental control-omfg or look-at-me-I-am-ZUUUUPER transformations... he's just an old man minding his business and waiting for his time to run out. He spends his days drinking his head off, sniping sea gulls, chatting with sea monsters, occasionally scaring the people in the archipelagos and coastal cities; but he's 70% passive and just slouching at the TV or sleeping.

Bio: Winks is based off of myself, but with some exaggerated quirks. She refuses to wear shoes (something I only wish I could do), she loves to dance (any kind will do, but weird and sporadic dancing is the best), and is blind as a bat without her glasses! She is an artist and plays the didgeridoo! She was named "Winks" because around the time I drew her for the first time, my grandmother passed away. Winking was a tradition between my grandmother and I and one of the last days she was alive and conscious, she winked at me in the emergency room of the hospital.

Celsius is a 17 year old female, born on November 25. She's quite a tomboy, as she refuses to wear makeup and dislikes wearing skirts and dresses, and basically anything considered formal. She styles her hair in red dreadlocks. Celsius is very short-tempered and wouldn't miss an opportunity to voice her opinion. These two put together, she is disliked and considered highly annoying by many, but once you get past first impressions, she is a very chipper and energetic person (although she tends to procrastinate a lot). She can be very impatient and she gets distracted/bored easily. She loves lemonade and also owns a motorbike, nicknamed Charmander, since she likes fire pokemon.

This is Mathilda. She's 18, lives in southern England in the late fourteenth century, and is the daughter of a moderately wealthy merchant. She's overeducated, and enjoys running the household and managing its finances when her father's away, which is often. She prides herself in being stoic and morally upstanding. However, despite her intellectual shrewdness, she's very sheltered, reclusive, and a bit prudish. She has a tendency to be stubborn and critical as well. She has a very dry wit, and cares deeply for her friends even though she doesn't always show that affection.

This original character is really just a personification of myself as I wish I could be or as I would be if I had the ability to you know... control my eye color and just randomly tattoo myself with stars.

Name: C.S. (The "C" is actually the symbol for the moon) **laughs** Ha ha, lame, I know... but I'm an artist, what do you expect, really?
Occupation: Artist/Creator
Abilities: Telepathy, ability to constantly change traits (think like a chameleon really)
Likes: Punk, rock, music, art, colors, rainbows, Harajuku fashion, cyberpunk and goth, space, cats, tattoos, body art (piercings and the like), raves, dancing, messing with people's minds (c'mon, it's fun!), arachnids, magic and the occult, etc.
Dislikes: Stupid people, conformity, clothes. XD
Age: Unknown/Ageless (not a god, just really unwilling to die)

Eye and hair color are interchangeable at will. C. is pretty much just like a normal person, just never seems to age beyond the physical age of 21 or 22. Body art and piercings randomly change and just appear or disappear at will. C. loves all things of a spider related nature and owns and co-exists with seven different Ts (tarantulas)... her favorite being a Cobalt Blue (Haplopelma lividum) who is as mean and nasty as C. sometimes can be.

Rumor has it that C. will live to be about 1000 or so years old, in much the same way a Chinese Fox lives to be about 800 or so years old... she is mischievous and full of surprises, but really tends to enjoy messing with people and randomly changing her appearance because she gets bored so easily.

Character does not appear in any stories or anything like that, she is just well... art. XD

My protagonist, Te'Kirah, about to her ass kicked by her "arch nemesis," Kadez. As you can see, her sword has been broken, leaving her only form of defense rather useless. Fists aren't going to be much use against an undead crazy-lady who's out to kill her, and she knows it. Think that'll stop her from giving it her all? I wouldn't bet on it!

Summary: Aevyn is a quiet tomboy. She doesn't have many friends, and is considered a sort of outcast at school. Mordecai is very arrogant and acts like a playboy. However, he does have a softer side that shows after being around Aevyn for awhile. One night, Aevyn has an encounter with a vampire, Mordecai. Somehow during her struggle to get free and live and his struggle to feast on her young blood, Aevyn makes Mordecai her personal bodyguard...so to speak. The hilarity and drama ensues.

Shavera's personality is one of utmost calm, she rarely, if ever, displays anger, at times her mind is almost unreadable. Shavera is an excellent empath, she can read anyone, many think this skill lends to the barrier that seems to be around her mind, her empathy skills are very close to telepathy, she is not tricked with lies, no matter the illusion. She is a skilled fighter, both with weapons or with simple martial arts. Though she is a skilled fighter, she depends on her quickness and dexterity, versus brute strength. Her rather petite stature has often put her at a bit of a disadvantage in terms of sheer muscle power. However, though, she is not perfect, though she is an intelligent stragtegist, she is not the best of leaders. She is quiet, and not the best of speakers, she prefers little to no company rather then a group of warriors pestering her on what they should do.
