As part of Pin Up Week here on deviantART I'll be doing a series of interviews with some of dA's most prominent Pin Up photographers.
First up was
Wickedhailey followed by
Cosfrog. In this last installment, I'm pleased to present one of my personal all time favourite photographers on deviantART, *
ButterflyLady1)First off introduce yourself? Who are you, where are you from? Whats your fav food etc etc haha!My name is Lesley Slenning, I live in the fabulous city of sin....Las Vegas. I love cars, bikes, tattoos, and causing trouble. I have a wiener dog named Chopper who is spoiled rotten. I have the most amazing friends on the planet. I never sleep, and I am totally nuts. My life pretty much revolves around when I am going to take my next photo and where. That is about it in a nutshell.
2)What first drew you to photography? And in turn Pin Up photography
I really started getting into photography when I moved to Arizona. I fell in love with the scenery there. It's kind of where it all started for me. I just started shooting everything and everyone around me. The pin-up side started kind of by accident. I did a pin-up style shoot for a bike shop in Arizona. I've always loved cars and old hollywood glamour, so I just ended up throwing my own twist into it and I was hooked after that.
3)In your view, what makes a great pin up photo? When I think of pin-up, I think of beauty, curves, and class! It's quirky, sexy, naughty and fun all at the same time. It leaves a bit to the imagination. But as with any photo, I think if you are passionate about what you are shooting, it will show in the end result.
4)What do you look for in a model for your pin up work?I love girls with tattoos, so the more tattoos the better! I look for girls that have style, class, curves in all the right places, and tons of personality!
5)What do you think of the new pin up that can be found on sites like Gods Girls and Suicide Girls. Is that really pin up in your opinion or is it something else that has its roots in Pin Up?I've been a member of Suicide Girls since 2003. I've worked with quite a few of the girls on the site, and have nothing against SG....but I wouldn't compare it to pin-up at all. I could go on about this, but I think it's best that I keep this answer short.
6)Is there anyone that you wish to work with?Adult film actress
Janine Lindemulder7)I know for myself, music and my friends/lifestyle, movies are a big influence on my work, what influences you day to day? And does it creep into your work...Everything I do creeps into my work. My brain is in full overload all the time! I love music, cars, motorcycles, tattoos, and life in general. I am inspired every time I leave my house.
8)When youre not shooting, what do you do?When I am not working I spend time with my family and friends. I really love watching movies. I also try to get out of town as often as I can. I think it's good to get away from the stress of life as often as I can and unwind.
9)What attracted you to deviantART?I found the site back in 2003. I was completely amazed by the talent I found here. deviantArt is a great way to get your work out there and to meet people from all over the world that share your same passion.
10)Who are some of your fav artists on deviantART?`
foureyes ~
heartagram ~
perry ~
SpookySally ~
lorrainemd to name a few!
11)What are some of your fav images?
Bernie is a master at taking advantage of the power that natural light can bring us. He is by far my fav photographer here on DA.

I love self portraits, and I love ~
heartagram's work. I love the color, the mood, and everything about this photo!

I love everything that ~
lorrainemd does, but this is my all time favorite photo of hers. It's like something you see in your dreams.

I think this is an incredible image. This is the kind of photo that should be in history books.

Pin-up, tattoos, attitude, and class...all in one fabulous image
12)What is YOUR fav image of your own and why?My favorite photo is my first pin-up shoot I ever did. It's a photo of a model by the name of Asia DeVinyl that I shot with a custom chopper. Everything just came together on that shoot. Not to mention Asia is amazing to work with.
13)Where would you like to see dAs pin up gallery go? Should we have a new and old school categories?Besides maybe weeding out the images that don't belong in that category, I think it's fine the way it is. I like seeing the new school and the old school together. I love seeing the modern day twist that people put in their pin-up photography.
14)Whats up next for you? Any big projects?I have a ton of things going on right now. I am in the process of redoing my website. I will have posters, prints, t-shirts, and lots more available soon! I took a long break from shooting, but am back and scheduling private sessions. You can email me at les@hotroddolls.com for info on booking with me. I will also be at Viva Las Vegas April 10 - 13th! I will be at the car show on Saturday the 12th with Sabina Kelley. We are offering a never before seen photo that will only be released at VLV this year! So come to Vegas and say hi!
