The short future of 3D by
-
It has been announced that "Due to the number of complaints, inquiries and lack of community spirit and involvement from the 3D community...." [link] a number of changes will be brought in.
- All 3D Sub-Categories will be merged into one category of 'Digital/3D'
-This means in our wonderful DA search engine, we won't be able to find a specified range of interiors or waterscapes or abstract works etc etc. They will intentionally be merged together.
-This means "people" think a simple 3D spoon is the same as a 5 million poly-faced urban architectural scene.
-This means a Poser-created mythological scene with buxom characters will be in the same category as an architecturally designed hip interior.
-This means "Miscats" are such a priority for the people who run the site that they would rather bring everything to square one than monitor the submissions. Instead of increasing awareness, we would rather be blissfully embedded in ignorance
-This means all the efforts put in by past 3D GDs
etc are now worth shite. We don't have the memory of a gold fish here. We have participated with the 3D development for years.
-This also means outrageously, that 3D Abstract Artists won't be even included in a 3D Category - they will be part of digital
-This also means - get this - that 3D Models will be placed with Sculptures
Wikipedia:
Sculpture is three-dimensional artwork created by shaping hard or plastic material, commonly stone (either rock or marble), metal, or wood
A 3D model is a mathematical, wireframe representation of any three-dimensional object (either inanimate or living) via specialized software
-This means a clay vase is the same as a low-poly 3D cartoon charcter
It took the admin more than a 15 months to get GDs running the 3D Galleries from 2006 onwards and they complain about "lack of community spirit". During the same time, there have been at least 2 simultaneous GDs for "popular" galleries like Nudes or Fetish etc But hey, who's judging!

I for one am damn right insulted by such as comment as a lack of community spirit with in the 3d sector, 3d is a niche sector and all it's occupants embrace it, aswell as each other. I've made some great friends through the 3D galleries and to be fair they are the people that give me the most respect on this site.
I would like to know what complaints have been recieved...............
We need to band together and get this sorted out, it's wrong and I'm not happy, not happy at all.
I apologise for my poor punctation, grammar and spelling but I dont type well when im angry!
