Introduction :handshake:

Welcome to the weekly Help Desk Updates. In these weekly updates we will attempt to bring you the most up to date news concerning the Help Desk & FAQ, as well as provide some helpful hints for super duper deviantART fun.

Hexe's Corner :hexentanz:

Continuing on with the FAQ Spring Cleaning project, I have spent the majority of the past week looking through the entire faq database and have compiled a listing in my head of what needs to stay, get compacted or go. Come Monday I will begin deleting the entries no longer needed, I expect this to take no longer than 2-3 days. Once this is completed the whole faq database will be looked over once more and any entries needing minor touch ups will receive them, I expect this part to take 2 days.

After all of these steps are completed we will alert you once again to announce the final step and that will be compacting any entries that could be best described in one entry instead of 3-8 entries.

This week I would like to remind everyone that the Help Desk Team's primary language is English. As such it is faster to provide help in English. We are aware that this may not be your first language, but in order to receive a quicker response it is best to at least try to write in English, even if it is just to say 'I need help in German' in case we aren't sure what language it is you are typing in.

We are fortunate to have a diverse team of administrators so more than likely we will be able to find someone who is able to help you with your situation. Please keep in mind however, that if you are in need of assistance in another language that it may take more time to get a response for your question. :)

Hey, Jenn! I heard it from a friend of a friend who knows this girl who has a parrot that once squawked about a guy that said the Help Desk is there so we don't have to look for the answers ourselves. We don't really need to check out the FAQ, do we?

Don't be fooled, deviants! The FAQ is a fantastic and extremely helpful tool when it comes to your inquiries about the site; be it about a bug or a general deviantART function. The FAQ is there to encourage you to help yourselves and to only come to the Help Desk when your inquiry isn't covered there. For example, it only takes as long as a few clicks to quickly pull up the answer on how to update your journal when using the FAQ. Whereas, it can take up to 72 hours to get an answer from the Help Desk, putting your happy journal writing on hold until you hear from us gals. In cases like this we'll gently nudge you in the direction of the FAQ because your question is already answered there.

The FAQ is super easy to use. It works on a keyword system, much like our deviations do in the search bar. Typing in "journal" will pull up a list of all the FAQs associated with our personal journals, including how to update one. Our FAQ doesn't work with entire questions. For example, typing in "How do I update my journal?" isn't going to help you at all, as it pulls up nearly every FAQ out there. Keep it simple and limit your search to one keyword.

Sometimes, no matter how many times you try or how many keywords you search, you might not be able to find what you're looking for in the FAQ. This would be a good time to contact us at the Help Desk. If it is covered in the FAQ we'll point you in the right direction. If not, we'll of course work to resolve your inquiry as fast as we can. Just remember to help yourself first... and tell that guy who said you don't need to use the FAQ to shut it or we'll sic Hexe's frog army on 'em. ;)

FAQ clean up sounds extensive, but it would do wonders for helping out deviants efficiently. Furthermore I would've never known that Mozilla upgraded itself. thanks help desk ;-).

When deciding whether to buy a Nikon or a Canon there really is only one difference: a clockwise or counter-clockwise zoom. Choose wisely.
