Unfortunately Tubaholics Anonymous (tA) didn't get enough people to answer the call for our "Pimp our Site" contest launched at the end of last February. Although we decided to cancel the CSS contest, we want to give you all another chance to make us an ID that our community can be proud of.

For added inspiration, our admin team will be putting together a flamepack that entrants can use as starting material. This flamepack will be released next weekend and will include some tube, rec and curl, spider-form, JuliaN rings and ribbon fractal flames donated by some of the most original and creative fractalists in the Apo community.

Timeline:

Contest opens: Feb 29th, 2008
Flamepack releases: April 5th, 2008
Contest closes: Friday April 25th, 2008
Selection of top 10 candidates: April 26– May 2nd, 2008
Community voting: May 3rd – May 9th, 2008
Winners announced: Sunday May 11th, 2008

Submission criteria

You must create an original design roughly 400 pix wide and 200-800pix high. To be considered, your design has to include fractal-generated tubes, wires or tube-like structures as a central motif. While there is no limitation on the fractal software that you use (e.g., Apo, FE, UF, Xenodream, Groboto) or to the amount of post-working that you do, your “tubes” have to be clearly visible. There is no limit on the number of entries that you may submit for consideration.

Optional
You may include the title "Tubaholics Anonymous" in your submission along with a suitably tasteful catch phrase if you wish but it is not required.

Submission format

1. Upload your entry to either Digital Art > Fractal Art or deviantART Related > deviantID categories with a link back to this contest in your artist’s comments.
2. Note us with your submission with the title “ID submission” and include the following:
a. A thumbnail of your image
b. A link to your upload at DeviantART

Selection

The top 5 entries will be selected based on aesthetic appeal (how nice they look), originality, and how well they suit the mandate of our group (how tubular is your submission).

Community voting

Images of the top 10 entries will be featured for 1 week in the tA journal. tA members will be asked to vote for their favorites.

Prizes

The winner will receive a 3-month subscription donated by ToAPP. Additional prizes may be donated subsequently.
