Google Chrome EULA warning

=MrThunderfield:iconMrThunderfield: reports, September 3
You might have heard about Googles new web browser Chrome. But people who really read the EULA found out something rather disturbing: Google gets the rights to everything you create or publish with Chrome. So before we get further info about this, I wouldn't recommend submitting deviations with Chrome.

WWW: Read This Now... Your COPYRIGHTs May Be Gone Soon

*oogiboogi:iconoogiboogi: reports, April 2
Your Passive Copyrights may soon be gone...

Everyone on this site should read this if they are a citizen in the US or work in the US.

Basically it means that passive copyright would be removed. They are considered orphaned copyrights by the copyright office should this go through. Every sketch, doodle, photo of your family, paintings done for business or fun, even e-mails between you and clients would be considered orphaned and free domain. Unless you would register every artistic piece, from napkin doodles to finished pieces, it would be free to use by someone else.

Pray this doesn't go through or the artistic freedom in this country would go into complete anarchy and art would be stolen right and left. Imagine your greatest idea that you've been working on for years being seen in passing on the net or someplace else by the executive or art director at an animation company or something, and then imagine that exact idea and art being used to create a project for just about everything without credit, payment, or even a passing glance at you. Write your Representative and Congressman if you possibly can and protest this to the highest levels. If your are part of any type of artists guild or society, bring it up and rally support... it's the only way to keep your intellectual and passive rights.

Keepin' it real....

How do you know about this? Where is your proof?

Something this serious wouldn't have gone unnoticed like it has for so long.

I am doing research at this time to find the exact bill number going before congress. It hasn't been that long. It is a possible bill which is being brought up in the future. I have many contacts is several professional arts organizations including United Arts (a nationwide organization) who have brought this to my attention, as well as teachers and alumni from the art college I graduated from. This has actually been brought before congress before about 10 years ago and was soundly defeated. I am just getting the word out to do so again.

I'm glad you know what you're talking about. And I hope that it's defeated too. I don't think I would share my ideas over the internet anymore if that would pass.

New Info here! : [link]

It states the very complicated but informative act being proposed. Some of it I agree with and some of it I still don't. It isn't as dire as I once thought but still needs careful and studious scrutiny by actual people who would be affected by it not some letter crunching busy body in the national copyright office who isn't. I am glad this info is up and can be viewed. Give it a read, it's worth your time.
