I had a conversation awhile back with a friend about self-portraits. I had told him about a self-portrait project I'd had to do for my Photography class, and he scoffed and said that it was a silly project, since self-portraits were a dead art in photography.

That got me thinking. I have to agree--the world of self-portrait photography has been marred by and buried beneath a mountain of "myspace pictures" taken in the hundreds by kids with a point-and-shoot--but surely there was some quality self-portrait photography left.

So I did a little digging, and came across these fifteen works. I found them refreshing and enjoyed searching for them, and hope you enjoy them as well.
