Nip Netstalking in the Bud

~sanjouin-dacapo:iconsanjouin-dacapo: reports, 1d 14h ago
Net stalking is one of the more unpleasant things one can experience when using a forum or art website such as deviantart. The boundaries of real life are often blurred or ignored, resulting in skirmishes, flame wars, or long episodes of stalking by someone the target doesn't know. Even though this stalker often cannot hurt you physically, knowing that you are being followed can be scary. Here are some tips on preventing or lowering the likelihood of being stalked, as well as avoiding becoming a stalker yourself.

Killing Scienology

~Remagoen:iconRemagoen: reports, April 3
Scientology is a cult-like business and it must be destroyed. The organization has ruined lives, ended lives. To allow such an evil entity to exist without standing up against it is wrong. I hope to show you with what I'm about to discuss about the Cult of Scientology, and I hope I may inspire you to try to stop it.

What Is Scientology?

Dianetics was created by Sci-Fi writer L. Ron Hubbard. Largely, Dianetics seeks to rid our minds of unwanted emotions and free ourselves from false memories. Scientology expands on this to turn it into a "religion". One could even compare Dianetics to the Bible or Qu'ran as Scientology's "Holy Writ", though that would be a bit of a mis-comparison.

Dianetics frowns upon medicine. It claims that medicine is invasive to the human body, destroys it. Instead they believe that a procedure called "auditing" is the only way to save ourselves from whatever may ail us, including asthma, broken bones, cancer, insanity, paranoia, etc. Anyone curious to read more about Dianetics, I fully encourage them to perform their own research, as this essay isn't meant to focus on it.

Continuing to compare Scientology to other religions, the organization even has it's own creation story: The Story of Xenu. To keep the story as simple as possible, I'll only highlight a few of the main points in the following paragraph.

Long ago, there was an Evil Lord Xenu who ruled over the Galactic Confederation, a collection of solar systems of which included Earth. Believing a rebellion was about to overthrow him, Xenu collected the alien beings in his empire under the false pretense of over-population, brought them to Earth, and slaughtered them. The souls of the murdered aliens, now called Thetans, were collected and given false memories--the memories Dianetics seek to erase--which confused them. After the Thetans were stripped of their individuality in this confusion, many of them joined together into small groups, which later invaded the bodies of the few survivors of Xenu's holocaust. These living aliens were our ancestors, and the souls still inhabit our bodies, giving us schizophrenia, epilepsy, cancer.

Absurd story, and if they wish to believe it that is their right. But when their beliefs start to harm other people, that is where I must draw the line.

The Evils of Scientology

The things Scientology does to it's subjects are appalling and numerous. Perhaps the first I may discuss is how it steals from it's parishioners.

In order to move up the ranks in Scientology, in order to be a better person freed from those false memories, a Scientologist must be audited. They don't give the parishioner a choice to this either. They claim to know more about the parishioner's own safety than the parishioner him or herself, and so they make it mandatory. In each auditing session, they charge for “donations” that you don't have a choice other than to give.

After you have confessed your deepest secrets, they create a file about you detailing your fears, crimes, and other various nasties. In any event you seek to leave the organization, this file will be used against you to blackmail you into submission. This limits your free speech. More, Scientologists are prohibited from talking amongst themselves over Scientology, doubts, fears, or anything else. Instead they must go through "proper channels", the Auditors, who would be quick to admonish you.

If you are a member of a family where some are Scientologist and some are not, the Scientologist is commanded to "disconnect" from the non-parishioner with refusal to aid or even communicate with them. In mindset of the Scientologist, the non-parishioner is dead. This disconnect has shattered families where husband left wife, son left father, mother left daughter.

Whenever someone or something is perceived as an enemy to the organization, a policy known as "Fair Game" is followed. Fair Game says that those enemies are outside the laws and ethics of Scientology and may be treated with whatever is necessary to eliminate the threat. This includes harassment, threat of legal action, destruction of character through noisy investigations and rumors, and destruction of relationships with family, friends, neighbors, and employers. If the enemy--often a critic of the organization--persists, they may try to frame them in illegal activities, drive them mentally insane, or even kill.

The final evil of Scientology could be told through the victims of the organization: Linda Waliki, Shawn Lonsdale, Lisa McPherson, Jeremy Perkins, and Paulette Cooper are only a few. Type these names into Google and their stories will shock you. These names alone, never mind the other atrocities of Scientology, are enough to motivate me into action. Please remember these names, don't forget them.

The Objectives of Anonymous

Over the past few months, another group has begun to take the initiative away from Scientology. This group, known as Anonymous, has held several protests against the organization and is exploiting the flaws of how Scientology works. Scientology cannot blackmail nameless protesters. Scientology cannot silence a body without a head. These Anons, as they call themselves, don't rally around a leader, but rather a cause, an ideal, a common goal.

Anons walk all sorts of paths, from lawyers, athletes, programmers, students, engineers, police officers. They have not gathered to topple a religion, but rather, stop the organization's ability to perform its evil. Even atheist Anons are not trying to "take one more religion off the face of the Earth." No, as I said before, they may believe whatever they wish to believe, so long as it is harmless. But it is, and so I must stop them.

Anonymous seeks to achieve it's goals through several methods. Each month, they will gather together across the streets of Scientologist buildings and protest peacefully. They encourage people to research the acts of the organization. They try to help Scientologists think for themselves and stop the brainwashing.

More, they ask their local governments to stop giving tax breaks to the "religion" of Scientology. These tax breaks, along with the mandatory "donations", allows money to flow easily into the organization. This is something that gives it power. Stopping the income and freeing the people within it, and to begin taxing the faux religion would damage it's ability to survive. Eventually, it will crumble.

On April 20th, 2008, they will begin "Operation Reconnect". As a direct action against the disconnect, the goal of OR is to reunite families and show them that it's okay to talk, that they can still love each other. Anons hope that this operation will mend the broken families. Operation Reconnect will start with a protest and end with the rejoining of loved ones.

One final objective of Anonymous I'll mention is to protect others from fair game. With the sheer numbers of Anons, Scientology can't pursue them all, but would seek to make examples of only a few to intimidate the rest of them. Those who are not targeted, if they are able, could donate money to the lawsuits that are bound to arise, donate to bail Anons out who are mistakenly arrested in Scientologist terror actions. Those who can't spare money can offer emotional support to who grieved by the intimidation. They could be a friend.

Remember: Above all, there is strength in numbers when dealing with Scientology.

What You Can Do To Help

While Anonymous has already damaged the reputation of Scientology, they still need help. Remember, the number one goal for Anons is to help Scientologists get out of the organization. Ask yourself if there is any time you may donate to saving people's lives, emotions, families. If you care to lend some time and energy, I encourage you to join in the protests if there are any near where you live. But do it smart, the final link in this article will tell you how to remain safe while being an activist.

If you don't live near the site of a protest, there are always other things you can do. Spreading the word of what Scientology does is always helpful. Telling your friends, family and co-workers of what the organization is about could always inspire them to use their own resources to help the Cause. Printing out posters and flyers and putting them in visible, common areas will alert strangers to the evils of the cult. You could even pass this article around.

Never allow yourself to fall into traps like Scientology. Educate yourself, research and question things. Think for yourself. Use your mind and logic to work your way through these evil organizations and free yourself, free your friends, and your family from these monsters.

The people trap inside need help. Anonymous needs help. Will you?

Thank you for this, this has opened my eyes a little more to the horror's of this cult.

Seriously after reading the story of Scientology I laughed my head off, that would make for a good sci-fi show.

I'm all for people believing in what they want to believe but when it comes to harming others in any way or form, thats just wrong.
