Did you know...

...Anthropomorphism is the attribution of uniquely human characteristics and qualities to nonhuman beings?

In other words, anthro art is a genre which features animal, vegetal, or item characters with human qualities such as upright postures, clothing, and human activities.

..."Anthro" does not automatically equal furry art, nor does it exclude it? There are many sub-genres in anthro art. The only sub-genre we do not allow in Daily Deviations are yiff an image composed of anthro characters committing sexual acts. Most yiff is not allowed on deviantArt so if you see it, please report it.

Thank you.

...how to submit a Daily Deviation to feature a picture in the Anthro Gallery? ^
cooley and I are in charge for the Anthro Gallery, so we'll be taking all of the anthro DD suggestions. You only need to send
ONE of us a note (not to both, please) to do it. We don't ask much in ways of guidelines, but here is what we do request:

Title your note "DD Suggestion."

Include a link and/or thumb of the piece.

Tell me why you think it deserves a DD.

We prefer unknown artists, but that's not a must.

We may be overloaded with notes, so don't feel bad if we can't reply to your note. Be sure we read and check them all.

...the most common mistake when a picture is wrongly categorized as Anthro, is to get confused between Anthro Art and Fantasy? Dragons, as any other kind of Mythical Creature, like for example Mermaids, Unicorns, Bigfoot, Chupacabras or Loch Ness Monsters, are not "Anthro", so they should be uploaded to Fantasy.

...boys or girls with cat ears or tails, are humans with animal features, but NOT animals with human features, so they can't be categorized as "Anthro Art"...? So, they should be uploaded to the right gallery, for example Manga/Anime if they fit that japanese drawing style.

...there are still miscategorized deviations because drawings featuring people, are submitted to Anthro in the (wrong) belief that "Anthro" means "Human"...? If you have read this News Article down to this point, then you can realize why they are 100% mistaken.

...there is a cool contest happening every 7 days called "Anthro Weekly Challenge"? If you want to take challenge, and enter the game, stay tuned to *

...the key things to look in for Anthros?

Bipedal anatomy (walks upright on two legs)

Opposable thumbs (though not required)

Partakes in human activities and would likely wear human-like clothing.

...dragons are considered fantasy, but bipedal dragons that wear clothes or sport other aforementioned key features can qualify as anthro? So you can see this is a gray area at best, and common sense applies...

Also, I am surprized that people with animal traits are not considered anthro, but how you explain it makes sense

Gayed.
I might argue that bigfoot would be the exception to that fantasy thing. He/she is a bipedal, humanoid being. In some stories he/she is given speech and/or clothing. In my mind, the biggest thing that keeps bigfoot from being human is that he/she is completely covered in fur and is outside of the human society.
