Festival of Advanced Music and Multimedia Art

~renacer9:iconrenacer9: reports, December 10
Sonar, the advanced music and multimedia art festival, takes place in Barcelona every year during three days in June. Sonar’s diverse artistic offer splits between the Sonar by Day activities (in the CCCB and MACBA venues) and Sonar by Night (Fira Gran Via M2 L’Hospitalet), together with some simultaneous gigs like the performances at L’Auditori.

At the last festival edition, more than 75,000 people enjoyed the fine selection of an artistic programme which combines the electronica headliners together with hundreds of emerging artists and DJ’s representing the most updated music and new media trends within electronic culture.

Sonar is the meeting point both for a worldwide audience looking for the newest, as well as the professionals, looking for the perfect environment for business and networking.

This coming year the festival takes place on 17, 18 and 19 of June and for the first time in 17 editions, Sonar will have two simultaneous editions. Together with Xacobeo (Compostela’s Jubilee), the festival takes the Way of Saint James and celebrates both in A Coruña and Barcelona. A double-edition event, the usual Barcelona and this extraordinary one, which will be named Sonar Galicia.

Sonar has also regularly crossed over the Spanish borders, since 2002, travelling with events all over the world, decentralising electronic music by showcasing new talent, often local, and the all time classics within the genre. Sonar has travelled to London, NY, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Seoul, Frankfurt or Tokyo, and more.

An urban event, and a discovery platform. Sonar is a pioneer and influential date on the European cultural calendar thanks to its unique entertainment offer and the singularity of its emplacement.

StarChunk Smash n Bash: An OC Tournament

*Captain-Feces:iconCaptain-Feces: reports, April 4, 2008
The StarChunk Smash n Bash: Your face will be terminated!

So what's up with the name? Well nothing, the story will be crack, therefore so will be the title. Prepare to terminate some faces!

Hosted by your friendly neighborhood spidermen:
:iconshihochan: :iconcaptain-feces: :icontofubeast:

So here's the story:

The Prince Shiro has lost "that which is most precious" to him. While he will not say what it is, it is so important that he is lost without it, as apparently it is also full of magical powers. In order to retrieve it, he sent out his guards to scout out people to participate in a tournament to find the strongest fighter. The winner, should he/she be the nice character they are and help out the poor Prince will get a nice reward involving lots of cash. If they're jerks and decide to keep that "that which is most precious" to themselves, well whatever floats your boat right?

So...Can you recover what is lost? And once you do, will you return what you found? Or will you take what you've earned with your own hands?

The cast:

Auditioning time:

Have a reference sheet of your character. Original characters only please, so no fan characters. Let's have some variety too! It's always fun to have a lot of different unique characters! Try you're best! Have them in a comic where they are approached by one of the guards (the characters up there) and learn about the tourney. How the guards approach your character is completely up to you. They can have a kickass fight, they can be diplomats and talk or even have something unexpected like oh I don't know...a danceoff? You do what you want.

Comics only please! While having one pages and animations would be sweet, it makes judging a lot easier if everyone just does the same thing like the sheep we are. Also I know this is a given but please make sure that the comics are drawn by you, not traced off of some Shonen Jump magazine or anything else copyrighted because you know...that would be stupid and result in an instant disqualification.

Coloring and inking is not required, just make it look like you put some effort into it mmkay? Also there is no required page amount, just do how much you think is right.

Auditions should be due on the 27th of April 11:59 pm Pacific time (Just because we figured most of yous are in the West Coast so that would be easiest)

But if it needs to be extended so there can be more people that will work too. If we're lucky we should have 16 people. It will be done elimination style. (4 rounds) However if we manage to luck out and there ends up with more than 32 entries, we will up it to 5 rounds.

Note us a link to your character ref sheet and audition! You can note Shihochan, Captain-feces, or Tofubeast! Though you know you want to note me-*bricked*

Judging style:

We want equal emphasis on both story and art. Entries will be judged on technical skills, effort and how polished everything is. We will also look for how well the story flows, an interesting and effective panel layout and accurate character portrayal. It will be done on a point system, which may sound restricting, however but this is more about how you can be creative within the system that we set up. We want the judging to be as fair as possible.

There will be props for extras such as humor but that's not a main point. Also at the end of each round we'll give out critiques for the entries and say why which ones won and why the others lost yadda yadda.

The judges, including the hosts are these people:

:iconcaptain-feces: :iconshihochan: :icontofubeast: :iconbeekayz: :iconkuro88: :iconsarahbeara:

Prizes?

1st place - Three month subscription + art stuff, in other words, showering you with fanarts and gifts of what you want.
2nd place -One month subscription + art stuff, still showering you with drawings of what you want.
3rd place(s)- Art stuff, you know the drill.

These people will be giving out the prize art, go check them out:

:icongenesischant: :iconjomei-hoshikawa: :iconbeekayz: :iconshihochan: :iconcaptain-feces: :icontofubeast:

Of course spectator entries are always welcome! <3

I hope lots of people decide to enter! You don't have to watch us for info updates or anything, but please keep a look out for more info soon to come! Fight hard everyone and do your best! Don't be intimidated by anyone either! Try your best and terminate some faces!
