The inspiration? I never thought of going to Crete, although it is for many people a place to go to vacation. But those of you who know me, also know that I dont go where most people would and dont see vacation as most people do. For me, to go somewhere I need to have special reason like visiting a friend who will then show me places that I will feel like I could not if travelling by agency. Or I would find a way to visit a place I feel is interesting for me. Third obvious reason is if I need to go somewhere job related.
Last year I was in Cluj Napoca in Romania, on Planta Europa botanical meeting. Job related. Discovered a very beautiful town of Cluj, natural beauty of Turda gorge and met interesting people. Amongst them there was this one special lady who is not a botanist by profession, but an artist. English lady, living on Crete so she can draw and paint and photograph flowers. As I adore photography and Nature, she invited me to visit her this spring. She is also running a webpage called Flowers of Crete (
[link]), where she promotes Nature protection, encouraging people to enjoy nature and instead of picking flowers to make photos or draw and paint them she organizes such tours too.
So, I am going to Crete next week, and I decided to find some Crete impressions by fellow photographers here on dA. When I typed Crete in dA search, I got out almost 4000 deviations, many of them I dont know why showed up, unless the author is from Crete and it shows on search. Im not going to talk about Crete here, you may find loads of info in Wikipedia at
[link] But I will feature some photos that caught my eye, and my own photos if I make any good will be displayed when I get back, after April 20th and certainly in my ~
Putopisi gallery.
Enjoy:
