E-X-O-G-E-N is an artist who takes the surreal and macabre to a whole other level, not afraid to thread his own paths or to poke at the darkest taboos of the human psyche.
How would you describe your art? Raw emotion. I've been told it's violent yet it still possesses a form of integrity, kind of like a lost innocence. I'd say the key topics behind my work revolve around domestic abuse (mostly towards women and children), murder, drug addiction, sexual abuse - the kind of things families sweep under the rug and won't talk about.
What is your personal favourite piece of yours and why?I wouldn't say I have an overall favourite. I like different pieces for different reasons.
The most personal one to me would probably be 'Soiled'.
What inspires you?The past, serial killers, my dreams and nightmares, the news, music, art, movies etc.
Which are your all time favourite photomanipulations on deviantArt?
Which tools do you use?Adobe Photoshop CS2... I really need to update.
I also use my own blood and urine in my work, so I guess scapel and my penis count as tools too, hah.
What advice would you give to anyone just starting out doing photomanips?Experiment and forge a style and technique that works for you, don't do something just because someone else scored popularity from it. Other than that, persistance is paramount - leave "giving up" to the weaklings.
Thank you so much for taking the time.

Whatever, you and the Dark Arts Asylum do a great job. Keep it up !
as for this interview... very good. He has been one of my favorites on here since I stumbled into his gallery quite some time ago. Everything about the work that he does inspires and interests me. Taboo subjects always catch my eyes, and he certainly dabbles deep into them. They are things that I feel need to be seen and heard -
I like the advice that he gives as well - to find ones own style and stick with that instead of taking on a style just because it brough popularity to someone else. Art must be original and usually an audience can sense the originality therein the art they are viewing. If none is found, it removes everything that art represents.
Most excellent interview, Mistress M.
