Moonlight Blood Drive

Fans of the CBS vampire detective television series Moonlight have organized a national blood drive to show their support and to celebrate the return of new episodes beginning Friday April 25th.



The freshman series has amassed a huge fan base and a cult-like following, as evidenced by winning the "Favorite New TV Drama" on The Peoples Choice Awards, and the show consistently won it’s time period.


The Official Moonlight Blood Drive is being sponsored by www. youchoose. net, which is the place for fans of TV programs to join campaigns for their favorite shows, including "save our show" campaigns.


The National Red Cross has taken an active roll in the blood drive and is acting as a liaison with all of the local Red Cross chapters nationwide.


The Red Cross donation button on the www. youchoose. net pledge site will take you to where you can donate directly to the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles. We selected this Red Cross chapter to replenish funds that were depleted by the wildfires.


The Official Moonlight Blood Drive will be held at various locations nationwide April 18th through April 27th.


To participate, fans should access www. youchoose. net and click on Moonlight Season 2 in the Crusades section on the main page to see the three options on how to pledge to give blood or donate money and to find the locations where blood drives are being held.



There still is a need for volunteers to help at sites already set up or to run a new blood drive sites across the nation. There are over 4000 total pledges so far.

There are many blood drive sites already set up in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Philadelphia. The Official Moonlight Blood Drive t-shirt, that is sure to become a collector’s item, will be available for donors during the blood drive through www. youchoose.net.


The t-shirts and other items will be available for fans to purchase, who do not participate in the blood drive, after April 27th.

Letter from an anonymous fan

I want to praise all of the Moonlight fans for not throwing in the towel after the anxiety laden disagreements. A renewed fervor has arisen from the whole thing. I want to thank those who put so much time and effort into creating a United Moonlight Campaign as well as those who took it upon themselves to come up with something in addition to the garlic campaign for the fans to get behind. I am, however, a little concerned that our efforts are too divided to make a large or noticeable impact for the show. I think we need a united campaign we can all get behind, and I would prefer it be a charitable one. As many have said, do what you think is right, but here’s my two cents...

I think, that the Save Moonlight Blood Drive and Fund raiser through .. --> m -->[link] --> m --> is the wisest way for us to pool our efforts. I believe, if we can make this charitable campaign a huge success, and it will give Moonlight the media blitz we are in search of. Here is some info about this campaign:

1) CBS is aware of, and in support of this charitable campaign on behalf of ML

2) Alex, himself is moved by this campaign and considering becoming the official Red Cross spokesperson because of this campaign

3) The Red Cross has agreed to monitor, donations made by the Moonlight fans

4) The media has already picked up on this campaign

5) There will be press coverage in LA on the final day of the campaign

6) It is easy to donate (you can just use your credit card, no mailing necessary)

7) If you are short on funds, and you live near one of the listed drive sites, you can donate blood, instead

8. There is a petition to Save Moonlight you can add your name to in addition to a blood donation or monetary contribution
