Literature--like visual art--can take on many forms and be appreciated by some, but not by all. Every artist tends to have a particular style that they prefer to express themselves through. Sometimes art is seen as crude or inappropriate at first glance. Then reveals a masterpiece as time passes and minds expand.
My intention:I hope to reveal unique pieces of written art. Those writers who put their hearts and souls into their literature, but don't have an extensive fan-base. This spotlight is to allow some exposure for the "under-dogs" of dA literature.
To those who view these artists work:If you plan to critique follow the rules of criticism. Being rude is not a critique that's appreciated by any artist. Some of the pieces I select may not have perfect grammar, punctuation, etc. I did not choose them for their grammatical prowess. I chose these pieces for the stories behind the words. I myself do not hold a lot of weight on grammar, because not all writers are English majors or even fluent in the English language.
The plan:On the 7th of every month I'll share a collective of 10 pieces from writers that I've found on dA to be exceptional. If I can't decide among their collective efforts I'll select their featured piece as the feature to represent them. Who better to know what work is their best than the writer him/herself?
I encourage members of dA to look around for feature-worthy pieces and send them to me via note with the title "Scribes Spotlight" so I can give other talented scribes their time in the spotlight.
Please do not submit your own work, explore dA and enjoy the talents of other writers.

Scribes Spotlight (v.02)

Prose:
(In Chronological Order : Oldest to New)
Feature One:<No Preview Image Available>The tiresome walk home didn't seem to deter young William. One couldn't be concerned with the implications of fatigue when the sweet embrace of home laid so close near by like a dormant friend, awaking for you with open arms. William pushed against the manors hard wood door, its foundation giving off a soft squeak. William tossed down his bag with unbridled delight.
"Uncle George!!!!"
A large man with a bushy white beard turned to face the direction of the voice.
"William my boy!"
The two hugged one another like old friends being reunited after time spent too long apart, which was the case when one thinks about it. Uncle George brushed his beard with his bony fingers. ....

Feature Two:<No Preview Image Available>Here we are, a woman named Julie stated as brightly as she could as she led her children through the door into their new apartment. Come on, let's get these boxes set down, and I'll order some pizza. How does that sound? she asked and sent a smile at the seventeen-year-old fraternal twins that followed behind her.
Yeah, that sounds good, Mom, Cadence replied with a strained smile, putting on the brave front for his sister and mother. The move had been hard on all of them, but someone had to step up and try to bring some type of normalcy to their new lifestyle. ....

Feature Three:<No Preview Image Available>Everyone knows that in the beginning, there was God. That isnt a lie, but it isnt completely true either. There were in fact, many gods and they didnt get along very well. Actually, thats an understatement. They hated each other and were always plotting in hopes of getting rid of someone. There was a god for every species of every living thing. And the first thing that every God did was tell all of their followers that they were the only god and that no other gods existed. That was the first major lie that was told by all the gods. ....
Why only 1 God is still alive by ~

Feature Four:<No Preview Image Available>My names Charlotte, and I am fat.
Oh, Im so sorry
was that not a conventional way of introducing myself? I guess you would have preferred me to say, My names Charlotte, and Im 16 years old or My names Charlotte and I have a pet golden Labrador called Fifi. But I dont see the point in that when my size is the first thing youll notice about me anyway. Theres no point pretending youre any different from the masses, if you saw me walking down the street your mind wouldnt immediately tell you my hair colour or try to fathom my brand of jeans, oh no, youd think Shes fat. ....
Like A Fat Kid Loves Cake by ~
Freerange-Dork
Feature Five:<No Preview Image Available>Humans are, as much as we wish it wasnt true, animals. Because of this little fact we have what are called instincts, which would keep us out of trouble. If it werent for that tiny little fact that we more often not ignore them. We do this because we think we are being brave, in which we are really being stupid. This is natural, of course. We have the need to show off, to be better than the next guy, a primal urge to be The Best. Unfortunately better usually means stupider, which usually means deader. We think we are being brave, we think we are being amazing, standing in that flooding water, touching that fire, allowing ourselves to stand in the middle of a storm. We are not amazing, though. We are stupid, moronic and utterly insane for thinking we are. ....

Poetry:
(In Chronological Order : Oldest to New)
Feature One:This secret desire
The seed in my heart
The buildings are fading
The hallways are dark
But we dream through the noise*
At waking hour** we thrive
The warm strangers*** we know
know the hope is alive ....
A Heart's Pantomime by ~
Roofboy179
Feature Two:I'm nothing but an outcast,
You bring me up, let me fall,
Is this the fate that has befallen,
An angel ready to lose it all?
Life's befallen curse of hatred,
Its the last you'll hear of me.
He brought me up, then let me fall.
Disaster, befallen, an angel's broken wings.
Broken wings of sorrow, broken wings of death. ....
Befallen by ~
FallenBeauty-81
Feature Three:You were there.
Always there. Never out of sight.
You were always so near.
Never left me for a moment.
At my side.
I at yours.
I will always be.
Never let you go.
I called and called.
But you never answered. ....
But You Never Answered by ~
LNIN9
Feature Four:Tell me why
Why I run my fingers
Along these imperfections
Why I treasure them
A part of my life
I have not forgotten
Why I want another
To make these marks on me
To mark me into servitude ....
Why by ~
Shimerao-Alkardi
Feature Five:I see a path, or maybe two.
One to heaven, one to you.
I know which I should pick.
I know which I want.
Two different answers,
both only seem to taunt.
To heaven is happiness,
to you uncertanity. ....

Reporters Notes: I have just a few things to mention and I'll be on my way. Firstly I have to apologise for this months article running a little late. I was waiting to hear back from a few clubs, had my desktop--and everything else we own--shipped off to Germany, and I've had to run errands to prepare for the move. So things have been a little hectic and with attempting to seek out features for the month, it becomes a little over-whelming.
Secondly, I'm in the process of starting up a club that will have the exclusive privlage of helping select the Scribes Spotlight features for each month. I'm not certain when this club will be up and running, but I'll surely submit a news article to let everyone know about it.
Thank you to all who encourage our new members of dA and support this article on behalf of our unknown writers. I wish you all the very best.
