When Literature got cleaned upIt is with pride, I would like to announce that the 2008 Literature Spring Clean has come to an end. The purpose of this project was not only get people to report miscats, but to provoke community spirit, educate and make awareness of how important it is to put your work in the right place. Launched alongside literatures educate week in March, we wanted to and are still encouraging people to just take a moment to think about where you are putting your work.
Putting your deviations in the right category benefits you, whatever art form you are committed to. It may seem a fickle thing to consider, but on the larger scale there are reasons why categories are there. For example, what if there was someone who wanted to do a feature on Nature Poems, and your well-written poem was put in Philosophical? It is a simple thing to just double check before you are submitting and stopping to think- is this in the right category? Plus doing so may stop you getting your work moved.
Something I will persuade all of you to do, is consider looking at your own gallery. It takes thirty minutes to look through your gallery and check things out. There is never any harm in a bit of spring cleaning, maybe move some pieces to scraps, revamp an old piece into a newer fresh version and maybe think logically about whether your work is in the right place. If youre unsure, dont be afraid to ask someone! Ask your GDs, ask a friend or maybe someone you think might be able to help you. A little bit of communication can go a long way.

If you have received a note about a deviation of yours being moved, please dont be upset. They have been moved for a reason, not for spite. I am sure like most people you would like to see organised galleries too and if it means your work being moved, surely that is a good thing?
A little over a month ago, ^
StJoan and I started encouraging fellow deviants in the literature community to spend some time reporting miscats. A little over a month later, 51 members answered our calls and signed up. These people have selflessly taken up hours of their own free time to sieve through assigned categories in literature and report any deviation that was in the wrong place. The sheer volume of reports received will have created a rather nice dent in the mess of the galleries, a dent which we hope over time will become even more prominent over time. For now though, I would publicly like to thank every single one of these people for their hard and invaluable work.

These people are truly superstars and I am beyond grateful in their help to make this project a well rounded success! Thank you ever so much for your help.

I would also like to thank additional Members of
#getLIT who have kindly assisted people throughout. Those who have not been directly involved and have still contibuted through supporting and advertising this project also deserve a thank you. True community spirit has been shown in this project.

Before you favour, reject or comment on this article, please take into consideration that the literature GDs now have a very busy task of going through these miscat reports. Therefore it has been requested that could you please refrain from reporting any literature miscats for at least a week, if not a bit longer. If you do find some, consider making a note of them and reporting afterwards, or if you know the deviant, consider talking to them about it politely. However if you do come across any policy violations aside from miscats, please continue to report these.
Finally I just wanted to say I really enjoyed putting this project together. The sheer volume of people getting involved was more than I expected, and the number of reports made has been astounding. We will be producing a few articles about the results in the near future, including some thoughts of those involved. Keep your eyes out!
Thank you

The good thing is though is that if and when we do this again, more people might be encouraged to participate with the easier system.
