The Living BrushFor many years on deviantART, I have seen so many photographs of children in poverty. And photographers do their utmost to let the children speak
without words. Many of them have succeeded.
It was with this in mind that a new organisation,
The Living Brush or
Kifakiyo Kizima (in Swahili) is being launched. The aim of the organisation is to provide funds for education, through the sale of artwork created by the children in poor communities. This project has its roots in Katala Village in the Democratique Republique du Congo. And negotiations are underway with village elders to utilise the funds created to for the benefit of educating the children.
The organisation is in the process of being registered in South Africa as an NGO. But the legal process is a long one.
The website is still being designed and we do need assistance with regards to design and hosting, once the organisation is registered.
The project has already sparked a global interest, and countries like Kenya, Zambia, Namibia, and South Africa have shown keen interest in the project. Getting art supplies to these remote areas is the biggest hurdle the organisation faces. And with so many offers of support and supplies coming from around the globe, it is essential that a centralised base be found. I have managed to secure the services of the South African Air force, who has an Aviation Unit in Kamina, to deliver these supplies to the DRC.
The only reliable postal service is in South Africa and with the help of =
cfoto I will be able to get the supplies out here. So if there are any people willing to donate art supplies, books, etc. Kindly note =
cfoto and she in turn will give you an address to mail the supplies to.
Thank you
Here are some photographs of children who speak..without saying a word.

This is an amazing project - I wish you every success with it and hope I can find ways to help (you know that if I sell any of the paintings I have made from your photographs, you will receive funds from those, but of course it's a big if).
Really beautiful feature too.
