Fiction, both fan-based and original, never gets enough recognition here on deviantART! I've always seen this, and of course it's always bothered me. A lot of friends on my devWatch write wonderful prose, but don't get enough attention for what they can do! So here's a little pimping.
For those of you who write series with more than just two or three chapters or one-shots, who take the time to upload each installment and keep everything in character, and who
still have under 12k pageviews despite all your labor of love... This one's for you.

Please take the time to visit at least one of these wonderful authors, and leave them a kind comment or three~! We're all trying to improve our writing, so a friendly critique would be just welcome. A lot of these stories are still ongoing, and they could use more love!

Original Characters:
-
"RED Generation"If you read a brief synopsis, you might write this story off as being cliched - a modern high school vampire romance. But I assure you, this is a unique and refreshing take on both the vampire and the teen love genres! The characters are all flawed and loveable - I'm a huge fan of Lisa Monroe, and the quirky "Stoner" - and I hope you all can enjoy them, too. I always look forward to reading each chapter!

-
"Cursed" Started in 2006, a little rough around the edges, and based on a roleplay, "Cursed" starts off with a flashback and witty dialog, and evolves into a dark and twisted shonen-ai drama. It's rated mature for various reasons, but if you don't mind the tag, you'll be whisked into the 1950's for a ride Basil Buscalia will never forget...

-
"Day in the Life" projectA unique and impressive collection of one-shot stories, all written in the rare and challenging second-person perspective. Each installment tells, quite literally, a day in the life of each character - but what astounds me is how different each character is, while the prose flows just as seamlessly from sniper to chef to convict. Well worth the read!

-
"Crowheart"How could I neglect a plug for Crowie? "Crowheart" is a tale that tugs on the heartstrings, of a persecuted warrior and father that is trapped in a dungeon, tortured for his inherited abilities by a Heaven-like society of angels that love beauty above humanity, and slowly losing his eyesight and his sanity in the gloom. But there is still hope for him - read it and find out! A psychological drama and love story.
Fanfiction:
-
"Twilight or Dawn"Maybe it's from being such a
Golden Sun fan, but ToD (as it's affectionately nicknamed) truly impresses me. It picks up the GS storyline after the events of the game, and masterfully fills in all the gaps left after
The Lost Age. If you're a fan of the series, I highly recommend this! It has all sorts of goodies for those into canon pairings and the history of Weyard. (And extra kudos to ~
AmberRei, since English is not her first language!)

-
"The Twins of Sloth"This is an oldie but a goodie, too! A Neopets fanfiction, from long before the days of Customization and the NC Mall. It tells the story of a society of anthros, full of traditions and superstitions, complete with a tribal language to complete the fantasy illusion. Two Ixi twins, Eimosu and Nassam, begin together in the first chapter, but rapidly grow into two very different Neopets...

-
"Valentine's Contest"Okay, so this is a group plug. But this is probably the best selection of
Fire Emblem Support Conversations and romance fics you'll find in one group, and most if not all of the authors have under 12,000 pageviews. They spanned all the titles in the FE series, and many creative writers mixed and matched characters to make unique and believable non-canon pairings. Try clicking on some (best case, all!) of the thumbs in that journal, and I doubt you'll be disappointed by what you find.

-
"Once and Future Taiyoukai"And lastly, but certainly not least, comes Inuyasha fanfiction by the now infamous RosieB. Perhaps it's not fair to include her on this list, since on FF.net her fanfiction is certainly mainstream! But she's a newcomer to deviantART, and her beloved chapters are a personal favourite of mine. Even if you're not a fan of the SessKag pairing (or Inuyasha, for that matter!) I recommend at least giving this a try. Her knowledge of the series gives her total command over the characters and their world.

Thank you all! If you were featured up here, I hope you get a little lovin' for all your hard work. ;3 And be sure to check out some of your fellow authors' chapters!
If you know someone who deserves more recognition under this criteria - ie, under 12,000 pageviews and has more than three chapters in a single story - please post their name and a link to their first chapter here, so that we can visit them, too! Spread the love, mates.

Over and out.
