The desktopography project arrived in 2005 as a place to download nature / topological themed wallpapers with edits from selected designers. Designers spend about 90% of their waking life in front of a computer so the most appealing genre for a wallpaper would be one that has beautiful design mixed with the all important aspect of being outdoors.
Here is a selection of recently submitted unique and interesting wallpapers from the [HDTV/Widescreen] gallery. To be eligible for this feature, the wallpaper must be a minimum resolution of 1280x800, widescreen format, and of course original work.

Thank you very much for including my "Vision of Autumn" in this beautiful collection! I feel really honored!
A disturbing fact of the wallpaper-gallery is, that you will have views over views and tons of downloads but mostly no comments and very very few favs. I don't know why this works as it works but I love to see the download-counter increasing. As an example, my most viewed and downloaded picture called green widescreen has at this point 2.941 views and 1.327 downloads. I am happy that it gets 18 faves but the 2 comments I got were annoying "this is amazing, but useless with that watermark" and "Very nice. I'd use it as my wallpaper if you got rid of that watermark."... I don't use the dA-watermark because it is waaay to big and hurts the eye. I use an IMHO little watermark in one of the corners of my pictures.
The wallpaper-section is unfortunately a speechless section!
What you say is too true. Most people are in such a rush to just download this or that, that they don't voice what they liked about the wall. The only way to fight this is to leave comments on other's walls and hope that it catches on.
Your watermark is not too obtrusive. I prefer a symbol in the lower right corner or your name hidden somewhere in the image (could become a where's the name game). Ultimately, it is up to you on what feels like it works for your wall.
Yeah it's really strange, but on the other hand it gives at least a chance that your work is still viewed by other people one week after you uploaded it. In other galeries you instantly get 30 favs and 100 views. But a few days later it's lost between all the other pictures and no one is viewing it anymore.
Your watermark really is fine, but you might consider moving to the bottom of the picture. Then it will be hidden behind the taskbar for most people (and for those who are only using it as wallpaper). But the watermark will still be there.
Series of articles featuring works from Digital Art > Panintings, Drawings, Misc., & Mixed Media based on a "theme." The 7th article in the series features works with a "Bird" theme.
