Yes, They Do Shoot Horses.

=eevachu:iconeevachu: reports, July 16
The gist of things: the best medicine for an injured racehorse is (apparently) a bullet to the brain.

Well according to most professional racehorse trainers, that is.

(Normally, I don't like getting too involved in online animal rights drama, but I know there's a lot of horse lovers out and about on dA. This might just be common knowledge, but it was honestly news to me...)

Pope Visits New York

=JohnsHopkinsMed:iconJohnsHopkinsMed: reports, April 20, 2008
I was watching the news earlier when the Pope was giving mass at Yankee stadium.

I was wondering how many deviants may have attended. Also, as someone who is not Catholic, there was a lot about it that I didn't understand. So I was also wondering if people who are Catholic would be willing to explain some of the customs etc. that go on during an event like that.

Oh I've been watching...flying in on his private jet, having his private limo brought in, feting for his birthday at the White House, private services one pays well for...gold and jewels...then off to New York. Definately a religious leader for the masses I'd say.

=JohnsHopkinsMed:iconJohnsHopkinsMed: Apr 20, 2008, 9:12:14 PM
I've noticed that too. There's a lot of extravagance that I personally don't understand, and it doesn't sit right with me either.

Another very valid point. Like I said to someone else that replied. It seems like there is a lot of extravagance that is unnecessary and it really doesn't sit right with me. It's almost like the Catholics worship the pope (man) more than they worship God. One person said in an interview "...he's like the closest thing to God on Earth."

I only watched some of it, and I could not BELIEVE how worked up everyone got. I don't understand a lot of the customs and rituals etc. in the first place. But the extravagance and rich nature of it, really didn't sit well with me.
