Welcome to the monthly duotonic manga/anime features! This features will be on every 23rd of the month with 23 pieces of art. It would be the features for manga/anime work which consist of a few colour. It can be ranged from b/w work to some work with used only few colour. I think they need some love and attention because they are so great!
About this feature: I'm always fascinated by b/w work. I've keeping a collection of it. And I just selected the pieces from my collection, and sometimes I browse through newest deviation on the first page if my collection runs out
About what pieces to feature: Well, it depends on many things. I don't deny I've the bias over the specific style of work, but I try to select them from the detail and quality of work. I don't feature doodle or sketch that the artist doesn't put the effort into it. Another things to consider are something like proportion, composition, technique, bla bla bla...
I think that would cover it all. If you have any questions, I'm willing to answer.
Thanks for getting back to me about how you select your images. I'm a relatively small-time anime artist [I get forced to do it in my spare time by the curse of 9-5] but one day I'd like to be able to "make it". I always see these "100 under 100" -type news articles and am always curious how they make their decisions. I know a lot of my work isn't up to the usual criteria, but it's kinda disheartening when my works seem to meet the selection criteria but never get featured.
Tough world to make it in I guess.
Thanks again for your help, I will continue trying to improve myself, and of course, any critiques you can offer would be appreciated.
And yes, it's kind of disheartening when you see the quality of featured work is the same, or lesser than yours. But don't be upset about it. dA is a very big place and it's impossible that everyone will get noticed.
Keep drawing and doing your best. It's not that tough but you have to try.

True enough, thanks for the encouragement .. I tend to get depressed about my art rather easily, even though I've been drawing since I was a kid, and even graduated university as a graphic designer .. I love art, I love making art .. situations like my current work, where I'm hired as a designer then pigeon holed as a tech support agent really get to me

`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
