Its been a long time coming, but Volume 3 of Expressive Comics is finally here.
Drawing on suggestions from fellow deviants and through my own continuous searching, Expressive Comics features deviants work that I believe represents an incredible amount of originality and diversity within the world of Comics.
In the vein of Comic book artists such as Dave McKean, Ashley Wood, Ben Templesmith and Raymond Briggs to name but a few, these Deviants demonstrate in their work a new and inspiring innovative style within Comics - These special gems that break the boundaries of what is often seen as the typical comics style.'
Expressive Comics works with the aim of encouraging others to try something new, by inspiring them in their own work with the incredible range of both traditional and digital skills featured here.
These artists are largely unknown, with some Deviations having no comments or favourites whatsoever, which brings me to the articles other purpose - bringing to light these fantastic unknown artists to the community!
1. ~
SpyrosVerykios-ComiXSuperb traditional painting skills, rendering original and otherworldly characters with a realistic believability.

2. *
BkawaiN is one of my favourite artists on DeviantArt. With such an original style of drawing characters, *
BkawaiN mixes traditional acrylic painting to create organic textures and digital effects, bestowing his pieces with a surreal and other-worldly style, just as his mystical characters exist in their seemingly decaying modern world. Hair tendrils and intricate patterns and details are picked out against the overall image that shows a keen sense of design and knowledge of negative space.

3. ~
enemydownbelowIntrospective words accompany striking high contrast images rendered in brush and ink. The characters are full of both emotion and energy.

4. *
kitton was suggested to me by ~
KaneMotri*
kittons highly original
Mac comic is feminine and personal, and uses a diary extract and scrap book style to intimately recall the thoughts and feelings of the protagonist. It is as if were being given the delight and honour to search through Macs secret book. Girl's magazines are used for collage, mixed with hand drawn details and text.
You can read all of Mac here:

5. ~
EmegEA fantastically talented painter, ~
EmegE creates beautifully toned and coloured panels with bleeding, seeping ink and pencil crayons.
6. *
socke-scheusal presents a beautifully rendered, touching story of Lamont Gotthart, a homeless busker with a secret power.
The panelling and pacing is excellent, and the minimal colour scheme works wonderfully to bring Lamont out from the surface as if he is the only one truly attuned to a world that can often seem bleak and empty.

*
socke-scheusals character designs are also very impressive and original, and show a great collection of influences and a keen sense for design and detail.

7. ~
ushirou~
ushirou makes use of digital and traditional mediums within his work. His traditional work has a definite impressionist quality, which he uses to his advantage to represent an out of kilter world full of shadows and nightmare.

I think you do nothing of consequence if you try and please some amorphous audience. I think you really have to do work that you like, and hope that people will come along for the ride. - Dave McKean
I don't know how you do it
