After a short hiatus, The Great Tutorial Adventure is back with another enriching article about tools, techniques, and ideas. In this installment we will be looking at oil painting.
Alex Curtis Public Works has links to the two new Orphan Works bills produced by the House and Senate for the US. Bills are (S. 2913, the Shawn Bentley Orphan Works Act of 2008, H.R. 5889: The Orphan Works Act of 2008)
For those who were interested in the issue, you can download the proposed bills in PDF format from the site.
Should be Public Knowledge, but I'm not going to ask people to run with pitchforks. I want people to be informed what the bill contains and to simply read the bills.

Thanks for posting this in a humane and calm matter. People need to read and infer for themselves and this article is a help. Thanks for bringing it up.
You're quite welcome. I've been looking into the issue more and more, and the less and less I'm actually fearful over the issue. I'm not saying no one should have any concerns over the bill because it's new stuff, however, one should form his/her own opinion and I don't want to see people saying "yay or nay" without presenting the facts first.

exactly, so far, after reading the bill and its info myself, I've grown to not really be too uncomfortable with it. As far as im concerned, it's not too drastic, though time will tell how it's treated. So i will be cautious with it. Thanks again.
Your inability to read is astounding. Read the title, these are TWO new bills for 2008. They'll be up in THOMAS relatively soon. There is one proposed by the Senate and one proposed by the house. This is why I posted the article and two different bill numbers.
The last one was only ONE bill introduced in 2006.
Why don't you actually read the headline and visit the link before being a cut and paste monster telling me this is NOT news? It's rather insulting when people don't bother to read the actual headline and the information provided because they saw someone else's headline and that didn't bother to provide recent information.
I think someone owes me an apology for this, but I doubt you will.

why dont you some research like did in his journal seen here: [link]
especially these lines: "Neither the published report, nor the bill introduced in May 2006 [link] proposed to strip anyone of their copyright protection, nor do either propose to coerce any payment or fee in exchange for copyright protection nor do they propose coercing or otherwise forcing creative persons to register with private registration companies in return for protection.
The report and the bill allow that a formerly unlocated owner may resurface at anytime in order to assert their copyrights and demand compensation or certain damages.
Please read the Statement of Marybeth Peters if you want to see the last officially published statement on this discussion. Please be aware that there are many articles and interviews being touted about currently which have little more than alarmist conspiracy theory or speculation dressed up as undeniable fact."
