Animal Cruelty: Art or Insanity?

=PsychoGlitch:iconPsychoGlitch: reports, April 27
On the continent of South America in the country of Nicaragua resides a man by the name of Guillermo Habacuc Vargas. Recently, he won first place in an art exhibit. What art mediums did he use exactly?

A dog.

A rope.

A wall.

No food.

He starved a poor little dog to death, and somehow this was considered art. And as if to torture the poor thing even more, the sign just out of his reach was made of dog food.

Here is a YouTube video and his blog to show you the conditions under which the animal was kept.

[link] <--The video, which was posted on March 13.
[link] <-- The blog.

And to make matters worse, he was invited to another art gallery to do the same thing again.

If you are as sickened as I am by this, here's a petition to sign to make the madness stop: [link]

No animal deserves to be treated in such a way. I hope that we can make this stop. Animal cruelty is NOT art.

If anybody has any other information about this, or has a correction to make on the information posted in this article, or anything else that's important about this, please post it in a lengthy comment that will grab people's attention. *Neadysamurai first brought this issue to my attention in a journal, and sent me those links you see above.

Habacuc in Gallery Codex, August 16 2007.
Photos courtesy of Dalia Chevez, except in Exhibition # 5, of Ernesto Salmerón.

5 works

1 -----------.
In the wall of the bottom, the one that is watched from the porch of the entrance, there was a text in which the phrase was ***reflxed mng "You are what you read"

- What it forms the letters is eaten of dog

2/
An ill, street dog.

- It died in the gallery
food did not occur him

According to I knew the dog died on the following day by lack of food. During the inauguration I knew that the dog was persecuted in the evening between the houses of aluminum and cardboard of a district of Managua with santo name who Habacuc that could not need at the moment. 5 children of whom they helped in the capture received 10 bonds of córdobas by their collaboration. During the exhibition some people requested the freedom of the small dog, to which he artist rehuso. The name of the dog was (it was) Natividad, and I let myself to him die of at sight hunger of all, as if the death of a poor dog was a shameless mediatic show in which nobody does nothing else that to applaud or to watch disturbed.

Definitively we are what leimos: pure croquetas.

In the place that the dog was exposed single it has left a metal cable and a cord. The dog was extremely ill, renqueaba and it did not want to eat anyway, so in natural surroundings it had died anyway; but thus they are all the poor dogs: sooner or later they die or they die them.

3/
A censer

- the day of the inauguration 175 stones of crack and one ounce of marijuana were burned in him

Also one says that in that pot they burned plastic and other chemical agents.

4/
During all the exhibition it sounded the sandinista hymn, the other way around.

The exhibition did not count on fichitas nor museográficos signboards that they indicated that IT IS each work. While music sounded little by little people recognized rate and asked if that chance were the hymn of the Front... which indeed was, but touched of principle to aim in reversa.

5/
Documentation of Red Alfombra work presented/displayed in the 5 Central American Biennial. Inaugurated by the president of El Salvador Elias Antonio Saca

This work was present like photographic document. If it says that the original disposition of the work was manipulated from fear of which the tomatos were used against president Tony. Each who is owner of its own fear.
