Welcome to Resourcefully Yours "Show and Tell.A bi-weekly Articles concentrating on the exposure of the Resource gallery for the true Treasure Trove that it is.
"Show and Tell" will give you an insight to the large and diverse selection of the fabulous Resources that have been made available to us by our dedicated Resource providers here on devaintART.To do this I have set up a small teams of "Resource Hunters" to go out into gallery to hunt and play with resources and applications they would not normally use by encouraging them to step out of their "safe/comfort zone and try something new. Below you will see what my nifty team has come up with and what they had to say about their newly discovered Treasures.
Presenting my wonderful team of Resource Hunters for this time around.
Blind and Broken by
When I first saw 40 Large Polaroid Brushes by ~princess-RxY I knew I had to find some way to use them.
In an effort to do something new, I searched through the Male stock gallery, since I've never made anything using male stock before. Lucky me, I stumbled across blind 1 by ~ben-stock I snagged it and continued my search.
Actions have always fascinated me as I don't know enough about Photoshop to do by myself what actions can help me with. In searching through actions, I found Cross-Processing Action 3 by =untitledhope The preview picture intrigued me, both as a photograph and as an action.
In making this piece, I used =untitledhope 's action on ~ben-stock's picture, then put it into ~princess-RxY's Polaroid frame by sizing the picture down and rotating it. (17 degree's counter-clockwise, if you're curious.)
I used one of my own backgrounds from =sd-stock just to give it a darker feel, and tada!

I've never done vectors but I've always wanted to. I just couldn't bring myself, with all that I do (and believe me, I am the definition of a varied artist) to start learning something from scratch. I struggled with this piece for over a week now.
I chose this amazing stock image blanc by=DanHeffer-Stock because it was something that as soon as I laid eyes on I said to myself 'I want to vector this'.
After I knew what I wanted to do, I needed a way to do it. I went searching for Illustrator tutorials (and btw, if you know of anymore good ones do let me know!) and came across tutorial Illustrator by ~vectortutorial and Woman and Cats How-To Advanced by *Zzanthia I followed them loosely and along with advice from =cybergranny and =Fladmose I came around to doing this.
You can see, in about three places, how I've started trying to blend this. I'm still practicing and I'm still trying to make this into a final piece but sadly my deadline is coming closeSo I'll submit this and keep working on it.
Vectoring is an amazing tool. It's very relaxing (even more than painting!) and very technical work. I would warmly recommend you to give it a try too.

Now, what have I done new?? You might ask!! Then, my reply is, that I have never so far used the textures of any kind (I had a phobia that they might ruin my artwork), but somehow they alway look attractive & I had it in my mind to use them & so I just grabbed this opportunity!! I don't know how good or bad it turned out as it is just my first attempt at something like this!!
Plus, I think the stems should have been more greener but, I just started doing this spontaneously & later it was not possible to edit some stuffs!!
The prime image used was,Small heart stock by ~vallendesterstock
My textures were a combination of textures 82 by *Sanami276 Ickledinkstock texture 16 by~ickledinkstockGold texture by*almudena-stock and Grungy Texture 06~AcidPromQueen
And, last but not the least,I think using textures in a image is quite intuitive & always depends & differs from image to image, but this easy to understand tutorial,Texture Tutorial by*kayceeus was quite useful for doing a bit of homework!!
I think, thats the lot of resources I have used ever for a deviation!!

Two things I never do; use animal stock and combine heads and bodies.
I started out with this head in mind Summer Stock 5~Sitara-LeotaStock . I knew I couldn't use the body for the picture I had in my head so after I knew which pose of her I wanted, I went in search of a body.
This figure Purple gown 3 by*PirateQueen-Stock jumped out at me because of the dress. I though, hey! That would be a great color against the girl's red hair. But the other things I had to consider were skin tone and pose, which worked out well. (the only thing I couldn't really change was the shadow on the dress, unfortunately looks kinda odd against the general lighting in the rest of the piece. I sacrificed lighting for the beautiful dress and pose
After the girl was done, I needed a background. Now I'm in love with stock fantasy backgrounds~anaRasha-stock. It's everything you could ask for in a magical forest scene. it was the perfect shade and everything! The only thing was, when I took a step back I felt I needed more "stuff" in the background.
So I stumbled across this Country Cottage with texture by~SolStock. It's such a beautiful stock, I know I couldn't go wrong. The only problem was that the resolution was a little to small to fit in it the whole background, so there was some cropping to be done. Another thing I never do is blend two backgrounds together. I usually try and it ends up looking so forced that I just stop. I don't know if I would call this a success, but it was an attempt!
Last but not least is my little shoulder buddy Wild animal stock 40- squirrel by~Momotte2stocks I never use animals in my photomanips, usually because I'm afraid of fur. It always ends up looking weirdly cropped (with me anyway). But I decided to give it a shot this time, and it worked!
I would like to thank my team of Resource Hunters for playing along with the Show and Tell for this time, and of course not forgetting the Resource providers that never cease to amaze us with their generosity for providing us with the best Resources anyone could ask for.![]()
