A personal interest to myself, and many others, is the combination of
Magic and
Science. This can be seen through books and television programs about the biology of Dragons, the evolution of Vampires, and a papers on the relation of Magic to Quantimicatics.
Most of these take something Magical and add in science and reason. I thought it would be a fun art project, to take something Scientific and adding
Magic.
Specifically, taking the symbol of Science- the Periodic Table of Elements- and treating it as a divination tool similar to Tarot.
So, here's the fun part! I'm trying to see if we can get the artists on deviantART to come together to make a "Periodic Table of Tarot." Look up any of the elements, and take the symbols took a new level. Is it a Nobel Gas? Maybe it should represent kingliness, grace, respect. Or is it a Metal? Maybe, this signifies hardness, coldness, distance. Be creative.
Here's the Element I took- Helium:
[link]You can choose whatever element you want. Remember- there are some lesser known elements (like Thallium!), we can't all be Arsenic. You can use whatever media you would like, any genre, anything. Be creative. I'm really excited to see what we can come up with!
Maybe, we'll stop using our Science Books as magical guides!

i like this as educational tool, Visual mnemonic device for remembering properties of elements, as tarot helps us remember properties or archetypes...
methinks information on the table (atomic # etc.) should be included as visual symbol...i will work on polonium
