Manga and Anime Interview - Lavender-Ice

^Damaged927:iconDamaged927: reports, April 29

:iconlavender-ice:=Lavender-Ice

As part of the Manga and Anime Education Week, =Lavender-Ice was kind enough to answer a few questions for me to share with you. I have placed some of =Lavender-Ice's favorites through out the article for your viewing pleasure as well :D

1.) Well, lets start off with the basics, What tools do you do your art in?
Well I use a Wacom Graphire4 4x5 (Tablet), I use a PC with photoshop elements 3 and photoshop CS2 on it. I also use Opencanvas 4 from time to time. When working traditionally I sketch on normal white computer paper and ink with a normal everyday ball-point pen. and color with Crayola xD;
by: ~babymicko

2.) Of those, which is your favorite to work with?
ohh Opencanvas. only when I want to do something quick though. if I want to work on something worth my time i take it to Photoshop (the version doesn't matter) working directly on the computer is enjoyable to me.
by: =Garih

3.) Do you do your work in straight digital or do you sketch first?
It really depends. I might get the idea for a picture when there is no computer around so the only way to work with that would be to sketch it out and then scan it. I do it both ways. but it really depends on the circumstances of the moment.
by ~poopbear

4.) About how long do you spend on each piece?
I've had pictures that took me 30 minutes to 15 hours.
in average though it takes me around 6-7 hours per piece, assuming my inspiration is high and I'm driven to finish the picture.
by: ~Jandy-chu

5.) What made you decide to start drawing in anime/manga style?
Well I've always liked shiny anime CGs and so I was inspired to do the same. hahah lame I know. I actually began drawing anthros and then moved to anime. it also looks pretty.
I like pretty things.
by: *cindre

6.) Of your pieces, which are your favorites?

7.) What inspires you to make your drawings?
...seeing people that are way better than me XD;; I get jealous and inspired to draw. sad but true. I still haven't pushed myself to my fullest- and I know I can do better. that's what inspires me to draw.
by: ~Borinu

8.) Any tips/tricks you have for aspiring anime artists?
Just do what you're happy with. some people may not like it. but...yknow can't force everyone to like something. practice anatomy.. hahahahah I started too late |||orz
but yeah, just do what you wanna do! D: if you love the dodge tool then rape it all you want!! art is art, just go for it, damn it. everyone else need to shut up. just do what makes you happy.
by: *ekocola

9.) Anything you wish to add?
Always credit if you sample someone else's work. trust me it makes them and YOU feel better.
by: ~Catsumi

I hope you've enjoyed this interview with =Lavender-Ice and I will have a few more for you through out the week! :#1:
