Have you tried self-portraiture already???
I like what Simon Pais
[link] wrote about self-portraiture:
Portraying yourself has nothing to do with vanity.
One self-portrait is just the smallest character from an alphabet called: Human Being.
Self- portrait is the language you can create and feedback to yourself when feeling in a particular mood. When you're thinking and biting thoughts about you, your life, what YOU think about your own life.
Self- portraits are born from insecurity, the need of getting to know yourself, it's writing your journal on a daily bases, revealing your deepest secrets.
When you do self-portraits you create your own way of understanding; and by doing so you're completely free from others.
I've been taking self-portraits since 2003, four years have taught me the importance is this kind of photography is to me.
My first and strongest root is here and the most important thing is: This is completely mine.Ok, that was very encouraging to me, I started in Photography doing only self-portraiture, I can say my selfs have been quite successful from the very beginning (I started uploading in Flickr, I am pretty new to DA), but a while after doing them I thought people might think I am so vain, till I read this, now you can see it isn´t really about vanity. Self-portraiture allows you to experiment, to learn, a lot actually, only the ones that have tried it can understand me, it really worth trying. You really don´t need to be a model, just some creativity, maybe a tripod and a remote could help too, but you can do wonderful self with the things you already have

.

Very intersting article.
Plus, is there anything wrong with being vain in this context? If people like seeing the artist and the artist enjoys taking photos of themselves, vanity or not, it's a win-win situation.
