Israeli forgotten truths

~Genny-Raskin:iconGenny-Raskin: reports, April 30
I decided to write this article because there are a lot of disinformation about Israel.

I have got an inspiration after reading a good article in DA: "Mystification: 'Islamic terrorism'" [link]
This article is indeed good and it is pretty clear by its' language and way of thinking that the person who wrote it, is well educated person and capable of thinking.

I am not coming here just to say how good the article is, but for a discussion, and partly the current article is my reply, but since it is too long for being just a reply I have posted it as autonomic unit.

It is possible I did not understand all well, as the writer intended, merely because English is not my native language and sometimes I lack the knowledge of words, so don't get angry with me.
That is the reason, for I fail sometimes in grammar, I beg your pardon.

And now to the point:

Israeli forgotten truths

I will discuss here very sensitive issue which many prefer not to deal with. If anyone felt offended, I did not have such intentions and I am sorry, but I think it is time that people will know the truth.
Even if I can't describe it more detailed and accurate than I do.

I lack the knowledge about Islam, I admit it, but I know that the religion itself, as was said (in the mentioned article), does not have much in common with terror. Not more than Christianity or Judaism has now.

For used references see at the bottom of the article.

Terror

You see, it is very simple to unite people by hate and many are skilled in making it sound good. Some use Islam for that, like terrorist organizations: El-Kaida, Hizbolah, Hamas and many more... Some bring new ideology to hide their crimes like Adolf Hitler, and some rulers of Russia who oppressed the population during the last century by "Communism" which was really far away from the original ideology which was suggested by Carl Marks. And off course many learned from the "best" like, Iraq, before the invasion, or Iran which oppresses it's own people in a very unacceptable way (very softly said). I can't imagine it has something with the holly Qu'raan.

But yet I am not completely agree with the mentioned article.

Lets talk history

-Prologue-

Jews had their violent epoch, something like 2000 years ago, Christians had its' in the middle ages, and Islam, as being the youngest religion from those mentioned above, having it now. This is what claim the historians, as I heard.

If you notice, as more we are moving through time from the past into today, the more affection the violence has, because humanity as a whole evolves and meanwhile invents new inventions, weapons and communication technology.

Jewish first wars, which are described in Holly Tanah are regional in middle east.

Cristian wars and inner oppression (Spanish inquisition and etc...), were spread through Europe to Asia and later to Africa and America.

Islam, as it was in the beginning, was amazing religion and had amazing culture. Many mathematicians and philosophers, poets and writers, artists and other people influenced good influence on many cultures, among them was Judaism and Christianity.
It influenced Judaism in language, literature and art during the middle ages. And when in some European regions Jews were oppressed (one of many times) they preferred to become Muslims and not Christians, at that time. Because Islam is closer than Christianity to Judaism as a religion.

But time passed and in the last century many things were changed for the best and for worse.

-Jewish History (summarized)-

As being Jewish, I know my history, though I admit I am not an expert and there are people who know more accurate facts and events than me.
Therefore there are people who twist these facts or just shamelessly change them. I try not to, and I will try to show you a different truth.

Jews were hated by many peoples for many reasons. I start here from middle ages and will not go into the history of ancient world.

Jews were hated by Christians, it does not important now why. But there were many pogroms, racist laws which were limiting Jewish freedom among others, some villages were slaughtered just because they were Jewish, it was even in Asia in Russia at some parts.
Then came the firs World War. Some other peoples were slaughtered during it, and Jews fought on different sides, loyally to "their" countries in which they were living for generations.

I want to note that many scientists that found important facts, inventions and discoveries, despite it all, were Jewish.
Like: Albert Einshtein, Haim Veizman, Ernst Cohen, Roald Hoffmann, Primo Levi, Gilbert Newton Lewis, Lise Meitner, Viktor Meyer, Tadeus Reichstein, and any more (those were only the chemists, and there are more, some of them got Nobel prizes and some ran away from holocaust).

As the war ended it left the world wounded really deep. Then some rulers used the fact that many became miserable, homeless, without workplaces, wounded, broken, with lost families and fortune.
Some of those rulers terrorized it's citizens even during the next war.
But wait there is more to come.

-The dream of home, the dream of Israel-

Jews were tired from wars and oppressions. They wanted a land, home, were they can live, a country for themselves were people will not torture them for being different, for being Jewish.
They remembered Israel and many lusted for years to come back. They knew that there are remains from Jewish community from the ancient times, BC. And indeed there were. Jews in Safed, Jerusalem, Tiberias and in Hebron. They were few, but they were in land of Israel for generations from ancient times, before Islam came and before Christianity began.
(for reference see "Early roots" in: [link])

And so they started to come, first from Europe, because in Asia it was considerably safe at that time. And Jews and Muslims lived there in peace in many regions.

But when the local Arab population noticed the new comers they did not like this fact, not straight away, though.
There was one man, one Muslim, who changed it all and somehow was forgotten now. Mufti from Jerusalem Hag' Amin El-Huseini. He spread the words of hate among the Arab populations and so the mess began somewhere near the twenties of the last century.

Jews understood that they can't no longer use Arab guards for their crops and farms. Because they did not prevent many times from others to rob it and set on fire. So they formed first organization. There were 8 people seated on horses. Many respected them. But to hire them it was extremely expensive, so Jews continued to hire Arab guards for their farms.
During those years 1908-1920, the Ottoman empire was fallen.
During their rule Jews in Israel were having higher taxes than others and some other differences (not for liking). So Jews thought that if they help the British, maybe they will help them to establish a country in this land.

After the big mess during 1921, were local Arabs in rage that was provoked by Mufti Hag' Amin El-Husaini, robed and destroyed many stores and workshops, crops of Jews and even 6 Jews were killed, since the British just stood aside and did nothing to stop the mess, Jews realized that they need a protection, so they formed new organization named "Haagana" meaning "the defense", and then the story began.

British published during their rule 5 white books which put limitations on Jewish society on buying lands and property, building setlements and coming to Israel from different countries and some more limitations. All of this, was a try to maintain peace in the region between the local population.
The Britain's tried to divide the land, first for three then for two countries for 3 times during their rule. Jews accepted all of the suggestions even thought one of them suggested that they will get only 12% of the land, while the Arabs 40% and the Britain's the rest. It was the best proposal that local non Jewish population could get at the time, but they disagreed, that was not enough (the mentioned proposal was the first try to divide the land, after the mass mess at 1921).

Another messes took place in Arab population in: 1929, 1936, 1939.
Each of them caused new publications of the white books, which put more and more limitation on Jewish local population.

From that on, as time got closer to WW2, more Jews tried to escape from Europe, and many ran away and entered illegally the land of Israel. This was not left without an answer, as El-Huseini provoke an escalation in the relations between the peoples. I know I lack some information but it is quite clear he did not do it alone, because it was not only one city but all the region of Israel (that was called Palestine in those days).

Because of the limitations, escalation in Israel and Europe Haagana splat into 2 organizations: Haezel and Haagana. There were differences in ideologies, Haagana helped legally the Britain and fought them at the same time on other planes (like rising new settlements, bringing refugees from Europe illegally and more).
Ezel were more violent, and later they splat in 2 too, to Lehi and Ezel.
The main differences were that they said that we must get rid of the Britain occupation as fast as we can, despite the raging war, so we can build a country and accept refugees. Where Haagana claimed during the war that, if British will go away, we will die because of the Nazis and their allays.

We may call those groups as terroristic. But I hope you understand why they were doing all what they were doing; they tried to save people from the Nazis, the war and the holocaust. They tried to save their families and friends who lived all over Europe and were in danger.
Many ships that came from Europe to Israeli shores drowned, bombed by British and drowned or were sent back to their deaths.

Some parts of the local Jewish populations tried to help the British in the war against the Nazi in northern African battles, some were trained as spies and were sent to Europe. All of them died trying to save lives.
Whereas the Arab population did not will to help the war against Nazis and their allays.

After the WW2 ended the British understood that they are not able to maintain the region and establish co-existence because the Arab population that tried to fight the Jewish growing population. As more refugees from broken Europe tried to come to Israel, homeless, without families or property, hungry, sick, weak and broken people from concentration camps, work camps and death camps.
(see references)

So they said to the local population, "we are out of here, if you want two countries, you can have them." There was a big conference of course on that issue, but this was the bottom line.

At that time more and more people heard about the local conflict and many were against the idea of Jews having a country among many Arab countries, some of them newly born, like Jordan, Egypt... And the Jews were in front of a dilemma, to announce about their country and get a war against the local population and neighboring countries, or not to do so and maybe they will not have the war.

They decided to announce, and here the country of Israel started to exist. For the first time, one country for Jews. Among dozens and dozens for Muslims, Christians and other religions.

As the country became a reality, Haagana turned into Zava Haagana leIsrael, translation: Israeli Defense Forces - the army. ([link])
And all other groups had to submit to it so, not without an incident though, but Ezel and Lehi ceased to exist and their members joined the IDF. The terror was over on that point, as groups became a country's army, and the population a country.

The common Arab-Palestine population was divided. Some wanted a country and some wanted a war against Jews, they were not ready nor wanted to become a country as a whole. The land were divided between the two peoples while the Arab population still had more territory.

The war indeed started on the next day, it is called the war of independence, the war for existence. 6 countries attacked Israel: Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine and Arab population and Iraq.
Some peasants did not want to be a part of this war, some Arabs and Palestine, but others who did want decided for them, and so many ran away from their homes, from their battle fields and later they were called refugees. Some submitted. Some were killed as people always get killed in a war. Israel lost 1% of its population in that war.

The local population by the end of 1946, approximately was:
Jewish: 608,000
Arab: 1,237,000
see the next for details on populations: [link] and [link]

Well after the war was won by Israel all the conflicts escalated. but there were Arabs left in Israel and now local Israeli's call them as Israeli Arabs. Some divided themselves from the others and called themselves Palestine.

There were 6 more wars.

Some of the countries have chosen the way of peace at different times: Jordan and Egypt.

So once the terrorism of Palestine began Israelis tried to protect themselves by building fences and establishing borders between the two parts of the land. The purpose was to not let the suicide bombers, snipers, cars with bombs into Israel. It hurt the other population because they were no longer able to work in Israel, and economics of Palestine suffered a lot. This happened after an opening of the 2-nd intifada El-Akza in 2002.

Before that, there was considerably peaceful period of time because of Oslo agreements at 1994. During that time Israelis could enter Gaza strip and buy good vegetables from Palestine people. We miss that time a lot, and it seems as a distant dream for a peace in the region.

2 times after Israel became a country they tried to make the Palestine to announce themselves as a country, but they did not want, claiming that it is all or nothing.

Now Israeli population is: Jewish over - 5,430,900 , Israeli Arabs and Palestine people - 1,433,100 and "other" people are approximately - 315,000.
Total population is approximately: 7,184,000.

The situation now is quite bad, as Hamas Terorrist organization took over Gaza strip.
Hamash as other groups like Islamic Palestine Gihad and some other smaller organizations don't value life. Not only of Israelis but of their own people by sending young kids 16- year old boys and girls for suicide bombings while promising lies for a better life. Many times they use drugs for convincing.
Sometimes they frighten families by killing it's members if one of them will not commit an attack. Or just convince doing so for money.
They use brainwashing education for kids, education of hate and violence, so it will be easy to get more terrorists into their rows in the future.
Hamas is using Palestine people as human shields and accusing the IDF in their deaths. They are hiding among schools, Kindergartens, Hospitals and just local population laboratories for explosives, and their leaders.

Palestine terrorism had numerous attacks on Israel, exploding buses, banks, stores and super markets, hotels and youngsters discotheque's,
they fired on cars trevaling by roads, school buses, fired by Kassams schools, kindergartens and neighborhoods. they continue doing so, despite hurting Israeli Arabs too, whom they call as traitors.

Israel would not build borders and bring limitations on work for Palestine if there were no terror.
In many universities and workplaces, there are many Israeli Arabs, those who have chose to live in peace in our country. We have two languages, Hebrew and Arabic as our formal languages.

The hymn of Palestine speaks of revenge, where hymn of Israel of hope for peace and home:

Palestine anthem: [link]

My country, my land, land of my ancestors
My country, my country, my country
My people, people of perpetuity
With my determination, my fire and the volcano of my revenge
With the longing in my blood for my land and my home
I have climbed the mountains and fought the wars
I have conquered the impossible, and crossed the frontiers
My country, my country, my country
My people, people of perpetuity
With the resolve of the winds and the fire of the guns
And the determination of my nation in the land of struggle
Palestine is my home, Palestine is my fire, Palestine is my revenge and the land of endurance
My country, my country, my country
My people, people of perpetuity
By the oath under the shade of the flag
By my land and nation, and the fire of pain
I will live as a fida'i*, I will remain a fida'i, I will end as a fida'i - until my country returns
My country, people of perpetuity.

* fida'i = one who risks his life voluntarily; one who sacrifices himself; hence the word fedayeen.

Israeli hymn: Hatikva = The hope [link]

As long as in the heart, within,
A soul of a Jew is yearning,
And to the edges of the East, forward,
An eye gazes towards Zion,

Our hope is not yet lost,
The hope of two thousand years,
To be a free nation in our land,
The land of Zion and Jerusalem.
(see references for the complete version)

-To The Conclusion-

The Palestine evolved itself as a terrorist autonomy from the beginning of the last century, just because one man raised and said: "We don't want to live in peace with you Jews, you took our lands." Instead of sharing. Israel tried to share and spoke not for once words of peace, but the Palestine did not answer. Now there is a terror stronger than ever increasing suffering on both sides.

But sometime it will have to end, and it is depends on us. if we spread a word of peace or a word of hate. One word can change it all, from each and each of us.
"I accept you. I want peace with you, we can share and we can have a better life together, without war and without terror. Life of peace, health, happiness and prosperity, despite our differences and painful past."

I skimmed through.. I may have missed it, but I'm assuming you neglected to note about the 850K Jewish refugees from Arab lands and the property they had lost.

If the Arab countries would have given half of the Jewish property they has stolen and given it to the Palestinian refugees instead of forcing them to remain in refugee camps for 60 years, the war would have ended.

p.s. Jewish property taken by Arabs following the Jewish exodus is estimated at 4 times the territory of Israel.

Yes you are right, I forgot to mention and it is my shame.
I am happy that you did.

But originally I don't have much knowledge on the issue since I came from Russia, and we weren't taught this issue at school, I discovered it in a TV documentary program where the refugees spoken, just a couple or 3 months ago....

I also know that there were Jews who, unfortunately, did not manage an escape and died in those countries...

It is indeed a forgotten truth. and it should not be like that.

My friend will correct my mistakes and I might put it on that chance and repost.
