Members of CAG Celebrate Free Comic Book Day
MOODUS, CT: Free Comic Book Day, the first Saturday in May, is a day when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their stores. As in previous years, members of the Comicbook Artists Guild will appear at locations across the country. Writers will be on hand, signing their books; artists will offer sketches to fans. All will be celebrating the most holy day in the comic book industry while promoting the principles behind the Comicbook Artists Guild. This years celebration is being held on Saturday May 3rd.
Here is a rundown of who will be appearing where:
Keith Murphey, President of CAG, Shawnti Therrien, creator of the soon-to-be released tale Am I Immortal, and East Coast VP of CAG will be at Sarges Comics (www.sargescomics.com) in New London, CT, along with fellow artists Hector Rodriguez and Randall Ensley.
Matt Ryan, President of Free Lunch Comics and creator of the popular romantic comedy series, Bigger, will be appearing at Larrys World of Comics (www.larryscomics.net), located in Lowell MA. Joining him will be good girl artist Norman Katz and Zombie Boy creator, Michael Mitchell.
Steve Kanaras, Creator of Only in Whispers, along with FLC Creative Director, Steve Kuster will be on hand at Most Excellent Comics and Collectibles in Enfield Square (shopenfieldmall.com), Enfield, CT. Joining them will be Mark Ragans and Tom Van Zandr, promoting Unhappy Granma #1.
Everett Soares, creator of Sky Pirates of Valendor, and Susan Soares, FLC Promotions Coordinator, will be at Stillpoint Comics (www.stillpointcomics.com) in Fall River, MA and will be hosting a Comic Workshop from 5 to 7 pm at the store.
Tony Miello will be at Wonderworld Comics in Taylor, MI with his mini-comics, Gabo the Clown and Mr. Happy Pants.
Rick & Gynn Silva will be appearing at Gateway Comics in Wareham, MA with a new mini-comics from their series, Zephyr & Reginald: Minions for Hire.
Alfredo Lopez will be at Bobs Comics in San Antonio, TX, promoting the latest issue of After the Cape and Femme Noir.
Founded in 2000, the Comicbook Artists Guild is an organization designed to bring talented comic book artists together - be they writers, colorists, inkers, pencilers or all of the above - to collaborate on a project of their choice. CAG is also a great place to meet with other comic lovers to learn new tricks or techniques, or teach a few of your own! CAG is for anyone who loves comics and has the passion to create in any aspect of the field.
