Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go to Wintersweet's AutoShoujo Random Title Generator, pick a title, imagine a series/story based on that title, and to create a picture depicting the FRONT AND BACK COVER for either a DVD, manga, or book of the story you imagined.

Kick Your Own @ss - ENTRIES

`MonicaWeasley:iconMonicaWeasley: reports, July 1
The only one I must compete with is...myself. And I'll always be the winner. :)

This contest wants on one hand to show that every single artist can improve (also motivate viewers to also keep practicing and never quit their art!) and that to improve is much more important to compare one's art with what it was in a previous moment, than compare it with other's art.

See You At the Fair!

^Kitten-of-Woe:iconKitten-of-Woe: reports, July 1
What are two traditional pastimes that make for some of the best summer memories? How about backyard grilling or making some other summertime recipe and going to the county fair? If you love to grill on the patio or the veranda or if you can make a pie, an icy beverage, or a frozen dessert that could take a blue ribbon, now you can combine the two and enter a Culinary Arts contest at the same time!

The Artisan Crafts gallery announces that during the month of July you can celebrate National Culinary Arts Month by taking a photo of a grilled main dish, a pie, an icy summer-time beverage, or a frozen dessert and you could possibly win both a ribbon and a prize! You also have the option of submitting a Culinary film tutorial.

:sun: The Mini Chapbook Contest - OPEN!

One of my favourite pastimes involves playing around with my poetry, arranging them in sequence, dreaming about how it would if I had a collection published...

So I thought it would be fun to have a mini chapbook contest. Not only is it fun, it also "will be good training for everyone in thinking of how their poems can relate to each other and build up into something greater than the sum of their parts," as the contest judge said. This should be good practice for anyone with plans to arrange a chapbook or full-fledged poetry collection in the future.

:pointr: Pick a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 poems from your April poetry collection.
:pointr: You can edit and revise the poem using the Literature Workshop or any of the critique clubs on deviantART. The more revision, the better.
:pointr: Arrange them in a sequence that makes sense to you.
:pointr: Give your chapbook a title.
:pointr: Submit ALL your poems in one deviation. The title of the deviation should be the title of your chapbook. This deviation goes under the category: Contests & Projects --> Contests --> 2008 --> Mini Chapbook Contest
:pointr: You can also submit your chapbook as a .pdf under the same category.
:pointr: If you have any doubts, please note me (^lovetodeviate).

Deadline: midnight May 7 (GMT)

Prizes: $50 and $25 deviantDOLLARS, and best of all, the top two mini chapbooks will get published online in the roundtable review; also, a 3 month subscription for first place from =Flynn-the-cat!

Judge: Editor of the roundtable review, ~jack-cade

Judging criteria:

1. Overall quality of the poems
2. How naturally and sensibly the collection develops certain themes and ideas (whether to do with form or content) without requiring an explanation
3. Sequencing
4. Anything else that makes the collection stand out

:sun: Poetry Daily Deviations, January - April '08

I thought I'd leave you with something to read. These are all the poems that have been featured as Daily Deviations this year. There have been 40 in a span of four months (assuming I've counted right), which is an average of 10 poetry Daily Deviations a month. Not bad, huh?

Hope you find something to enjoy.

Apologies to anyone I've missed out. It was definitely not intentional. Please let me know if someone's name is missing from the DD or suggestor lists and I will remedy that.

You can suggest a DD, too.

All you have to do is go to one of the Literature Gallery Director's page, find out if they have any specifications about DDs, and then send them a note with a link to the deviation and a short note about why you think the piece deserves to be featured. Also,

:pointr: Literature Gallery Directors (^StJoan, ^GeneratingHype, ^LadyLincoln and ^lovetodeviate) can accept only prose and poetry deviations.
:pointr: Don't send your suggestion for a particular deviation to more than one GD. However, if you would like to send different suggestion to different GDs, that is perfectly okay with us.
:pointr: Please remember that not all suggestions are featured on the DD page. It is up to the GD to decide what deserves to be on the today page, but we always appreciate suggestions. :)
