The impact of Anime and Manga

~EWKHou:iconEWKHou: reports, May 4
Ever notice how DA is getting a lot of anime/manga pics lately? Don't you guys think it's starting to get annoying lately?

I found a lot of them lately and I thought "Wouldn't anime-haters find this annoying?" So I look some pictures up and found at least 3 anime-esque pictures. So more questions popped up in my head. "Wouldn't photographing deviants find this a problem?" "Does this dilemma gets in the way of someone's search?" " Will it become a bigger problem to the future?"

I started noticing more and more of them are producing every day as we know it. I'm starting to think this is getting out of control. Sure they are cool and sometimes adorable-looking and funny in some pictures, but it is going a bit too far. They can't really take art that seriously and sometimes annoying comments shows up.

Don't you guys think that prople are wasting their time and money over anime and manga? They're just entertainment for us to watch and read, not something for people to seduce over. One deviant told me that it's corrupting society. It's distracting us from the world's real problems right now. Global warming, the Iraqi war, various diseases and natural disasters, and other things. It also doesn't make you famous, y'know that? I looked up "Masashi Kishimoto" (the guy who created "Naruto") on wikipedia and it didn't even tell us his biography. Just his works.

Seriously. Anime is great and all, but it must stop it's madness. People are saying that an "anime virus" has infected DA and it's becoming a problem to them. People seriously need to focus on reality instead of a "Japanese, mythical, magical, war-conflicted, fictional universe".

People can't even become serious in DA! I heard they abuse japanese words like "kawaii, neko, desu, so desu ne, baka, yaoi, etc.". I even heard people shout random japanese phrases when showering! They dye/fix their hair to match their favorite characters, stay up late just to watch anime, own more than 15 manga, confuse reality with the anime world, know a kajillion anime titles, and cosplay into different anime characters in different conventions!

It's so famous, fangirls drew pairings that are DISTURBING!! I mean I've seen tons of SasuNaru pics on DA and other yaoi/yuri pairings I've encountered BEFORE I even joined DA. This has gone too far.

Okay, I admit it. I like anime and manga. But I'm sane. I focus on my future and about my future job and family. I don't do any otaku crap and those stuff they do. I don't by anime-related products (okay, sometimes I do) and go crazy over various anime characters and draw yaoi/yuri/ecchi/hentai about these stuff. I happen to look at this as a fad. It's going to die out someday, right? Now I can hear some people saying they don't want anime want to die out and some do.

Bottom line: Anime/manga is going to far. Try toning it down big time and focus on reality more.

If there is a news article you want to discuss about like video games or anthro, well I'm not going to submit one. Go look somewhere else.

Not all people draw anime all the time. There are a lot of deviants on dA. But I do agree with you on the whole SasuNaru thing. Its gone crazy!

~AlienGuardian:iconAlienGuardian: May 25, 2008, 2:19:36 PM
I believe you need to get a grip on yourself.
While it may be true that anime and manga is spreading like wildfire, I see little harm from it. It's like being a fan of Western superhero comics: it's a hobby!
There is absolutely no link between Japanese culture and a lack for global concern; there a literally THOUSANDS of people with no care for Manga who couldn't care less about our planet.
There's also the fact that you're looking at a minority. MOST people don't spew "kawaii" and "desu" into every sentence that leaves their mouths; most fans have enough respect for Japan to avoid it, and look down upon this minority.
You also seem to think that anime/manga fans are completely cut-off from reality. Again, this is an extreme minority, if any exist at all.

This is a rather skewed news article. I respect your opinion, but I hardly see anime/manga as some apathy-creating disease that corrupts perfectly normal people...

DeviantART is a website on the internet. The average "otaku" downloads anime/manga on the internet. Thus, you see a lot of fanart on dA because that's where the fans hang out. I wouldn't take it so personally if I were you.

This is a very interesting view on the subject. But not a particularly new one. I agree with you that some people do take it out of hand, but not everyone does.

People who draw manga do so because they're passionate about it. Just the same way as any other artist. It does get annoying sometimes, the amount of people who obsess. Forgetting everything else but they are ,for the most part, a minority.

While I love manga and anime I would like to suggest to any fans that they try doing other styles as well. Especially if you hope to become a manga artist. Trying new things can only broaden your abilitys.

Uhmm..Yes. I hope that made sense. ^^;

dude, I have a few words for you. First of, anime is a freedom of experson, its like any other art, only it deals with the japanese style. And makes a person extend their imagination. Why do you go judge people for what they like, IF YOU ARE A REAL ARTIST you would respect each artists work, regardless of genre.

Excuse me for saying this but as you have said , anime makes everyone think away fromt the real world, I dont think so. We are all aware of the chaos and damage that hass happened in this world. But anime doesnt have anything to do with it, cause it depends on a person whether or not they will pay attention to it or not. And I think that if you're a truly respectablee person you wouldnt hate or be irritated with the fact there is anime art which is very popular in DeviantArt.

What does Mishima Kishimoto have to do with anything? He needs money, he is a mangaka doing his job, thats why he created Naruto. duh. anyone who needs money works right?

Anime helps a peron take our imagination to a different level, and whatever is our surroundings positive or negative helps. That includes iraqui war, global warming, and etc.

People are seroius in DA, I am personally thankful for DA, cause it challenges me to draw better, or to make my art skills better. And I am sure that there are artist who are same.

Kawaii- cute, Baka- stupid, desu- is a word which is placed every after sentence, its japanese culture, yaoi- male-male love, neko- cat.

Excuse me, I am offeded with the hair-do, I dyed my hair cause I wanted it to look better, and cut it the japanese style cause I want to, and it suited me. Everyone who I knew or didnt know said it was pretty. They even said that my mom should get the same hair. DUH.

What the heck do you care if anyone draws yaoi? So, gay is everywhere honey.

OH to end everything nicely, this is not suppose to be a news, this is your personal opinion, and its suppose to be in a journal. Cause you we byass, and news are expository writings. So i suggest dont write your feelings on news.

It isn't just some fad. It's what people choose to read and watch of another culture. It won't just 'die out'.Otakus aren't cut off from reality,It's just are way of entertainment!Just like a normal book or T.V..

Lolololol don't get yer panties in a twist. :B Sorry, but making an article about how annoying anime is ain't gonna stop it. If anything, you should stop pointing ou the reason and start suggesting solutions (in a non-critical manner). Of course weeaboos going all KAWAII DESUUUSUUSUUU about whatever Nayrooto animu is gonna be annoying but acting on anger/irritation doesn't help and may actually help the fire burn brighter. The more those otakus see anything similar to "haters", the more they'll gain the upper hand -- they'll see it as, not a problem, but a challenge to make it a stepping stone of their prevail of kawaii anime desu desu desu.

And i'm not going to lecture you on how there's also good anime/manga artists out there that aren't gungho on the whole otaku deal, but i'm sure you know about that already.

So, on yer part, just let it go and ride on a great, big lolrus to lead the way!

Sarcasm half intended.
