Mulesing: What PETA doesn't care about

~naughtbutanillusion:iconnaughtbutanillusion: reports, May 5
As many people already know, PETA is an animal welfare organisation in America which has, currently, been campaigning against the mulesing of sheep across the globe.

But does the lack of mulesing really benefit or help the sheep?

The fact is that it creates the risk of the sheep becoming fly blown, meaning that flies lay their eggs in the sheep's backside and the resulting maggots eat the sheep's flesh. The resulting wounds easily become infected and mostly result in horrible and painful deaths.

Is PETA really caring for the animals if it allows for sheep to be put at risk? Mulesing sheep isn't for asthetic reasons, it's for a good purpose, to prevent cruel and horrible deaths. Is it right for an animal welfare group to be pressing for people to boycott a market that feels the comparitively small pain of losing the tail is nothing in comparison to the torture endured being fly blown?

The mulesing of dogs has been used as a reasoning for their campaign by some people, but the fact is that they're two completely different practices. Sure, it's the same method, the same result, but one large difference: Docking the tail of a dog isn't to stop it from getting killed by maggots.

I think what PETA is trying to acheive is not to make sheep sick, but I thinktheir in purpose is to...ugh its really hard to explain. so ill let the link do it.

Kinda funny that PETA doesn't know much about that sort of thing XD

I've heard that they think Australia should use 'more humane' methods.

We've put forward one method, one that is not as painful (perhaps) or as 'cruel'. But it's not good enough for them.

Isn't there an irony here?

Nobody said lobbyists were known for being actually intelligent. More like clever and primal... sort of... reptillian.
A bit like sharks... or leeches maybe.
How about when they blow up the testing facilities and the animals die too?

People get Angry zealot a little too much. Then again, I don't like veal so whatever.
Maybe there's a bit of irony there that I don't like veal but I don't like PETA much either.

You alright H?

There is more to being a decent critic than saying you like or hate something. Challenge yourself to say which things you like about something you are judging/doing a critique on, or what about it you don't.

Yeah, I'm a-okay.

Just pissed off hearing about people being bitchy about Australian wool, especially celebraties ):

Its like the angry mobs in south park "RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE"

If they stopped being self righteous dicks and get an opinion outside of their PETA related social network they'd have some serious realizations about how ridiculous what they're doing is.

Then again that could be said about a lot of groups *cough*evangelical atheists*cough*

A message to Atheists and Theists everywhere, you have more in common than you think, if any of you are serious about peace then you'll stop the bitch fights and learn to live side by side.

My freakin' person I was trying to help coach in biology defected over to one of my rivals because he thought I was being too nonlinear, but probably also 'cuz I wouldn't give him some of my ritalin/adderall.

I can't in good conscious give someone else a prescription drug because I'm not in the authority to do so and that's set at my custom tailored body chemistry and would probably make somebody else get high on a bad trip or die if they took it. :sarcasticclap:
Fopund some other folks to work with.

Don't think that sort of crap stops after high school necessarily. Sometimes yes but othertimes no. :sleepy:

define humane, I think that putting injection through the sheeps butt is pretty painful for the sheep. Im sure that there is an easier and less harmful way to it.

Not as painful as the alternative of simply slicing away the flesh or leaving it to be infested.

It's like having an injection, you know it's going to benefit you in the long run, but damn it hurts, sometimes having side affects, but it's better than the alternative disease.
