Canon camera open source 'hack'

reports, May 7, 2008The Canon Hacker's Development Kit (CHDK) enables many Canon Powershot users to open up a host of features previously unavailable.
A brief list of features includes:
- RAW shooting
- Histogram display
- Extended shutter speeds (upto 1/25,000) as well as 65 second exposures
- Script running ability (such as motion detection)
The open source scripting will mean more features in the future, as well as scripts tailored to each person's needs.
For a full overview and installation instructions visit Lifehacker.
I would add even though the hack is software based and can be stopped at anytime I can imagine this would invalidate your warranty!
