ProjectSeattle May 2008; Volume I, Issue 2

~ProjectSeattle:iconProjectSeattle: reports, May 7
Welcome to *ProjectSeattle's second newsletter! This newsletter showcases some of the famous faces of the area.

I, *Poetic-Dragon, have created this monthly newsletter as a way to show off Seattle, and the surrounding areas and all things that have to do with it. In time, I hope for this to become more than just the newsletter: maybe a place where Seattlites {and other Washingtonians} can set up devmeets, where we can show off local artist and writers, and all that wonderful stuff.

Well, enough chat. Please, enjoy. And if you love the newsletter, please :+fav: it or comment or both. It would be greatly appreciated so that I know how well this is recieved. Oh, and if you are going to be a sour-puss and reject the newsletter, PLEASE have the courtesy to NICELY say WHY you don't like it, alright? I would like to make this newletter as good as I can.

Thank you and enjoy
*Poetic-Dragon {aka *Pyrosaint-Stox}

This Month Features Famous Faces of the Area

*Please note, this is barely scrapping the tip of iceburg. There were many famous faces that had nothing on here [ex: Bertha Knight Landes, Richard Karn, Edgar Martinez etc...] . There are a few rumored faces that I couldn't completely confirm live in the area or did at one time [ex: Anne McAffrey, Dick Van Dyke, etc...]. I think I did however do a decent job of finding alot of faces, thank you to those who gave me names when I got stuck: *SaintDestruction, ~meiastar, ~Harbinjer, =e-CJ, and *nosyd.

Chief Sealth
He was leader of the Suquamish and Duwamish Native American tribes in what is now the U.S. state of Washington. He is the man that Seattle the city is named after; it is the bastardized Anglican way of saying his name. For more info on this interesting man [link] and the only known photograph of him [link]

Shaun Alexander
Played for the Seattle Seahawks; as of a week or so ago, he was traded. [link]

Sherman Alexie
Famous Native American author from the Spokane area; his book "Smoke Signals" was turned into an award winning movie directed by Chris Eyre. [link]

Gerald Brom
More commonly known by his last name Brom. A very famous fantasy artist who has done artwork for D&D, Magic, comic books, computer games, and the list goes on. He currently lives in the Seattle area. [link]

Jerry Cantrell
Alice in Chains frontman. [link]

Carol Channing
An actress who was born in Seattle. [link]

Dale Chihuly
Born and raised in Tacoma. A VERY famous glass artist. [link]

Kurt Cobain
From Aberdeen out by the coast. Frontman for Nirvana. RIP. [link]

Chris Cornell
Frontman of the band Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, and Audioslave. [link]

Dr. Frasier Crane
The main character of the show Frasier, as played by Kelsey Grammer. He was originally from the show Cheers. The view you see from his apartment can't be seen from any real apartment in Seattle; to get his view, you must climb half-way up the middle radio tower on Queen Anne Hill. [link]

Bing Crosby
Was born in Tacoma and lived his earlier years in the area. Was part of the Rat Pack and sang "White Christmas". [link]

James Doohan
aka Scotty on the Star Trek. He lived in the Bellevue area up until his death. [link]

Bill Gates
Was the riches man in world forever, but as of this past yr, dropped to #2. He lives on Lake Washington in Bellevue area. Founder of Miscrosoft. [link]

Kenny G
His full last name is Gorelick. He was born in Seattle. Plays various saxophones. In 1997, Kenny G earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for playing the longest note ever recorded on a saxophone. Kenny G held an E-flat for forty five minutes and 12 seconds. [link]

Jimi Hendrix
One kick-ass musician who was born and raised in the Central District of Seattle, just behind Capital Hill. RIP. [link]

Russell Johnson
Currently lives on Bainbridge Island. He was the actor who played the Professor on Gilligan's Island. [link]

Brandon Lee
Son of Bruce Lee. Is buried next to his father. Accidently died while filming The Crow. [link]

Bruce Lee
If you have no idea who he is, I pity you. He is buried in Seattle, his wife's hometown. [link]

Dave Matthews
Musician-singer and occasional actor. Born in South African and currently lives in Seattle with his wife and children. [link]

Currently resides at his home on Lake Washington and also his home up in the San Juan Islands. A famous actor, played in the original M*A*S*H movie, commander in Top Gun, captian of the ship in Alien, to name a few things. He also appears in TV shows. Oddly enough, I could only really find one picture of him. [link]

Ryan Stiles
Born in Seattle and lived his first 10 yrs here before his Canandian parents moved them up to BC. He was on The Drew Carey Show and Whose Line is it Anyway? among other shows. [link]

Ichiro Suzuki

As much as I love Bing Crosby I'll have tell he was NOT a part of the Rat Pack. He sang maybe one or two songs with one of their members or small things like that, and he was in 1 movie with them.
While he was probably most famous among the masses for singing "White Christmas," another thing noteworthy is all of those "Road to..." movies he did with Bob Hope.

Ok I'll stop being a nerd now.

I have been to the gravesite of Chief Sealth in the Suquamish (sp?) area. Beautiful peaceful place...
