reports, May 7This is a mini contest to find a name for our new contest that will begin on may 19th.
So what is this contest all about??
This is gonna be a modeling/drawing/animation contest and this is gonna be going as long as the community is active.
First part
The first part is gonna be for the 3D modelers and 2D artists.
3D modelers will have to model and rig a character which they will be given a theme. They gonna have 2 months to do so.
2D artists will have to draw a character which they will be given a theme. They will have to draw a rotation of the character. Since it isn't as long to do as a 3D modeling, they will have to make a facial expression sheet, and a poses sheet. They can also color it if they want too.
Second part
The second part is gonna be for the 3D and 2D animators.
3D animators will have to use the winner's model and animate it on a theme that we will decide. The theme will be something as simple as making a character jump and then fall on the ground. If everything goes well, we will go for more challenge for the next ones.
If there aren't any 3D modeling entries, they will animate any character they want, as long as they own the rights to use them. There are free rigged characters that they can use on the internet. Also, if the model isn't the right kind of file for the software, they can use any characters as mentioned earlier.
2D animators will have to animate the winner's 2D character on the same theme as the 3D animators. If there aren't any 2D characters entries, they can animate any character they want as long as they own the rights to use it.
The animators will have 1 month to animate.
The prizes : The winners will have the choice between 1 year subscription or 20 deviantDollar.
That's it!
So the winner of this mini contest is gonna get a 6 month subscription.

lled FJORG where animators team up with people with different specialties. its a huge event and people get real excited about it!
but a name a name... um how about animator's baton pass? or something. i think a good theme would be exaggeration, since thats the corner stone of animation and all! the character could have one or more really exaggerated features, and the action that they do should be exaggerated as well
just a few thoughts ^^

For first part, I suppose. Can you clarify what you mean by "draw a rotation of the character"?
Like a face view, a profile view, probably a 3/4 one too?

No to signature clichés! You are on an art site, be creative!
Yeah, I guess the other option would be to have the winning model in obj or 3ds for (most software I've used allow those file types to be imported) and have volunteers to rig them in each software... but not sure how well that would work. I personally wouldn't want to volunteer because so far I've only fully rigged once. I've got two more planned, but like I said collecting computer dust at the moment.
