Orphan Works, A Response from the Creator.

=Joshi38:iconJoshi38: reports, April 13
There has been a lot of controversy over the proposed Orphan Works Bill, concerning the fears of artists who believe, with inception of the Bill, their art may be used freely and legally without consent of themselves, the copyright holder.

I emailed James Boyle, co creator of the Bill to address these issues and clarify the mistakes certain bloggers have made in interpreting the Bill.

Get Instant Access to a New York Publisher

~bookauthor:iconbookauthor: reports, May 9
When signing a book contract with a traditional New York Publisher the author loses control of the book’s content and cover design as well as the rights to the book. The author typically earns less than 10 per cent of the sale, which translates to less than one dollar per book sold. If the author hires an agent, the profit margin is less, because the agent’s fee is 10 (and sometimes 15) per cent of the author’s share of the profit. Margaret Merrill tapped into a system that provides a complete authoring and business development system with instant access to a New York Publisher. For more information, visit [link].

BULB MAGAZINE Issue No 05

*ohyouhandsomeDevil:iconohyouhandsomeDevil: reports, May 7
[link]

At first, I must say thank you to all the readers around the world
who are sending us so many pictures. We arranged a varied 24 pictures gallery chosen and prepared for this issue by Kresimir Zadravec.

This month's Project section is made by more authors who have one thing in common, a very interesting model. Ree Ja Kim was born in Northern Corea and grew up in New England. Her posing as model is between artistic and provocative and leaves noone cold.

We prepared as usual a very interesting interview, this time with
the creative Jean-Sebastien Monzani, photographer, illustrator and designer who greatly combines all of these talents of his. I would personally be very happy if this issue were big enough to include all his series but unfortunately it is not possible. I have been obliged to chose one picture from every highly aesthetic series of his but don't miss to visit his personal gallery to take a look at his complete work.

We have a new column by the name of Bulb lab. The first
three issues will present an article written by Biserko Ferček, an experienced enthusiast exploring the possibilities of tilt focus. He will unselfishly share his knowledge and experience with us, thus opening for many new dimensions of sharpness in photography
and the ways to control it.

Mare Milin has made a big change in her professional life and of
course, shared with us her satisfaction and her troubles in her column. Those of you who think that being a professional photographer is easy are much wrong. You might have already seen
that in the previous column but that is no reason not to read this one too.

Bulb magazine has gone through some small design changes in order
to standardize the magazine and ease its preparation. The changes are small but making us happy.

And finally, we have the winner of our first prize contest. That
is Matej Snopek and his answer that this Bulb would have 153 pages.
